Description

Jessie Burton studied at Oxford University and the Central School of Speech and Drama, where she appeared in productions of The House of Bernarda Alba, Othello, Play and Macbeth. It is about Triplette, monster hunting, and the descendants of Medusa, who protect humans from the mythological monsters walking the streets of San Francisco.

But the young Medusa offended Athena and was therefore cursed to be a terrible monster, forever hunted by men.Her prose are a bit too flowery, a bit too meandering when all I wanted was for the story to get to the point. The Greek gods all seem to have a wicked sense of humor and take pleasure in twisting a mortal’s wish simply to take pleasure in the results. One that made me think was the message to not over promise, because Medusa had promised many things that she did not have the power to control, and in doing so entrapped herself and sealed her own destiny.

However, she is uncertain of how Perseus would react to her appearance (at this point she is unaware of the full weight of Athena’s curse) and speaks to him only from behind the shelter of rocks at the entrance of her cave while her sisters are away during the daytime. My first thought on finishing is that I need this in a hard copy, so I would say that if possible, savour this in the flesh rather than ebook. I’d been looking forward to this retelling of Medusa’s tale since it was announced and thankfully, Jessie Burton didn’t let me down.I have always loved Medusa and I am thrilled to say this book finally does her the justice that l've always believed she deserved. They are journeying to uncover the secrets behind Medusa’s curse and explore the possibility of breaking it. In Book 5 of the “Iliad,” the Gorgoneion is found on the aegis, a shield or breastplate associated with Zeus and Athena. I kind of hope I stay in the minority, as I really was rooting for this book, so maybe others will be able to look past some of the things that bothered me! One such example of a protective Medusa head pendant appeared in the form of a late 2nd to 4th century AD Roman artifact recently unearthed in the Cambridgeshire countryside .
