That is, until the title is bawled out so loud, you go rushing for the volume to turn it down lest your parents hear that scrawny manic with the crazy spider-eyes screaming “DEAD BABIES! Bob Ezrin produced all four of Alice Cooper’s platinum albums from the 1970s, including KILLER and SCHOOL’S OUT. Vinyl pressings are so good these days that it's like listening to the clarity of CDs but with the warmth of analogue. And when it isn’t, it’s inside your head running around and misconnecting all your neural plugs and hotwiring everything just to detonate your whole mind with crushing riffs and cursed imagery like a hogshead of mischievous monkeys let loose to create gleeful chaos in your brain.

Released in 1971, KILLER was the fourth studio album recorded by the founding quintet of singer Alice Cooper, lead guitarist Glen Buxton, rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith. Cooper said in the liner notes of A Fistful of Alice (1997) and In the Studio with Redbeard, which spotlighted the Killer and Love It to Death (1971) albums, that the song "Desperado" was written about his friend Jim Morrison, who died the year this album was released. The collection also gives fans an unreleased live recording of the band’s performance at Mar Y Sol Pop Festival in Puerto Rico on April 2, 1972. The doomy bass line of Dennis Dunaway runs counterpoint to the dank, Leslie-amplified guitar of Michael Bruce as Alice gently intones the sad tale of a lost little one. Halo of Flies" was, according to Cooper's liner notes in the compilation The Definitive Alice Cooper (2001), an attempt by the band to prove that they could perform King Crimson-like progressive rock suites, and was supposedly about a SMERSH-like organisation. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. He explained that "it brings all the elements of the band's approach to sound and texture to a totally integrated pinnacle that fulfills all the promise of their erratic first two albums" and that "each song on [the] album finds him in a different role in the endless movie he is projecting on them. Liner notes Archived 2011-07-19 at the Wayback Machine from " The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper", Rhino Records Box Set, 1999, Catalog No: RHIN 75680. According to an NPR radio interview with Alice Cooper, "Desperado" was written about Robert Vaughn's character from the movie The Magnificent Seven (1960). The remainder of the album casts itself into a single journey crossfaded into parts unknown, much like the gothic run-in of “Second Coming”/”Ballad Of Dwight Fry” from their previous LP, “Love It To Death” (and like those two aforementioned tracks, were not banded separately on album.

The disc finishes with 3 excellent alternative studio versions including a version of 'You Drive Me Nervous' which rivals the finished album version. Killer is the fourth studio album by American rock band Alice Cooper, released in November 1971 by Warner Bros.La remasterisation est impec (il faut avouer que le son de l'édition précédente était digne d'un clafoutis aux pruneaux éclatés au fond du cabas de mamie), et le show (issu de la tournée promo, je suppute) proposé sur le bonus disc est démentiel. The Coop's 2nd release of 1971 following 'Love It To Death',WOW what a disc, superb from start to finish. Yeah Yeah Yeah” follows, rocking out over the introductory riff to Cream’s “Toad” played by twin SG guitars free of the fear of any ponderous drum solo to follow. Killer is the third-most-represented album in Alice Cooper's concert setlists behind Welcome to My Nightmare (1975) and Billion Dollar Babies (1973), accounting for 13. Punk icons Jello Biafra and the Melvins covered the song "Halo of Flies" on their 2005 release Sieg Howdy!

Tellingly, the last lyric in the song is “you never will understand” and by this point if you’re still trying to comprehend the lyrics you’re trying too hard because the point of Alice Cooper’s best albums are just to suspend disbelief and go along quietly and no one will get hurt (Except Alice, but he’s the professional here.Desperado", along with "Under My Wheels" and "Be My Lover" have appeared on different compilation albums by Cooper. Anyway having said all this it's great stuff to have at last, good pictures, notes, raw sound ACG live music and will get played over and over.

First official release of a live set by the Alice Cooper band since the 2001's release of the deluxe edition of "Billion Dollar Babies", but certainly been worth the wait.Desperado”, along with “Under My Wheels” and “Be My Lover” have appeared on different compilation albums by Cooper.
