Description

Cordless tyre inflators are becoming increasingly popular, however, you should still look for a model that offers an additional power source, such as your vehicle’s 12V port or direct connection to your battery. It draws power from a 12V car or leisure battery, so it can pump your tyres up in a much shorter time. Consenting to these technologies will allow us to process data such as browsing behaviour or unique IDs on this site to create better content. While not quite as impressive as the Superfast inflator above, Michelin’s Programmable Rapid Tyre Inflator does an admirable job when it comes to pumping tyres up quickly and efficiently.

Ring could extend its usefulness by offering this pump with a couple of different power leads though. The RTC1000 – like all the inflators Ring’s new range – has a flat construction, designed to stay stable during inflation, and the large on/off button is easy to operate.

Digital air compressors give a clear, easy-to-read format, whereas gauges can be disrupted by the compressor and tend to move about quite a bit when it’s in use.

The RTC1000 arrives encased in its protective carry bag with a set of latex gloves for handling messy wheels and a spare set of tyre valve caps included. When you plug your tyre inflator into your 12V cigarette lighter outlet you will have to unplug your USB convertor. In short, if you need a tyre inflator with a maximum pressure superior to 100PSI, then this cordless model could be what you need. Giving you the ability to preset your target pressure with the handy auto cut-off function, this inflator is easy to use and has an impressive maximum limit of 120PSI.

Simply enter your desired pressure and the unit will begin to inflate your tyres, and then shut off when it’s done. If you're a keen cyclist, this versatile electric bike pump could be all you need for your bike and your car tyres - as well as working well for inflating balls and children's inflatables. Overall, I think the RING RTC1000 is a great piece of kit to have in your car, with some excellent features and accessories. In reality, we found that the Halfords Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator could take a 17-inch wheel from 22psi to 32psi — a range that you’re unlikely to need day-to-day if you’re diligent about keeping your tyres in good condition — in 1 minute and 36 seconds.Once you have attached the air hose to your tyre using the brass valve connector, the device then operates to inflate it to your target pressure. div class="col-sm-6 col-md-3">

Step 1

Ask a Halfords team member about flexible finance. There is a button on the front for the light that is located on the right-hand side of the unit, and a small indent for you to put your valve cap for safekeeping while inflating your tyre. However, the three-metre cable had nowhere to go, which could be a bind when storing the unit in the car, especially because there was no case.

If you want to know the many reasons correct tyre inflation is so important, check out this eye-opening article. This in itself is not an issue, but seeing as the power switch is on the compressor and the pressure gauge is on the valve, you’ll need to go back and forth. Despite its angular design, this Halfords had a lot of the RTC1000 about it, not least the large on/off button and clear central display. The Halfords model was one of the most compact devices we tested, meaning that it doesn’t take up precious boot space. The display includes a bar chart that fills up, giving you an idea of how much longer you’ll have to wait. Before this one we owned the RAC630 which has been a great servant over the years, and I fully expect this one to live up to expectations too.
