Description

All of the first printing points can be observed including the Wendy Cooling quote to the bottom of the front cover, the misspelled Philospher s present to the rear cover along with the Wizardry and Witchcraft, rather than Witchcraft and Wizardry. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. The First Canadian printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, published by Raincoast with its striking plain blue boards, is considered to be one of the scarcest Harry Potter books ever appeared. There’s no dust jacket on the hardcover - the book didn’t have a dust jacket until the third printing. A notably early article by Rowling recounting her experiences reading Greek and Roman Studies at the University of Exeter, printed in the journal of the Department of Classics and Ancient History.

Only Rowling could dream up having the Dursley's move to a shack on an island just so Harry won't be able to receive copies of the letter inviting him to enroll at Hogwarts, School of Wizards and Wizardry.Watch out for Beautiful Things on some of the UK's top antique shows this year, including Salvage Hunters on Discovery Plus and Quest plus Channel 5's The Great Antiques Challenge.

Head of spine very slightly bumped, top of front cover with minor bumps and a crease, two corners very slightly rubbed: a near-fine copy. A mysterious letter, delivered by the friendly giant Hagrid, wrenches Harry from his dreary, Muggle-ridden existence: "We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". The author’s name will read Joanne Rowling and the illustrator’s name won’t have a space before the date. This is one of these extremely rare latter copies, with a signed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone illustrated bookplate loosely inserted.

The book has been read, so as expected there is the slightest of rubbing to the corners and some creasing to the spine. Copyright page shows: Joanne Rowling, picture of young Dumbledore at the back of the cover,Winner of The 1997 Smarties Gold Award displayed on the edge of the front cover. J K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone first edition, first printing Australian hardback.Experience the magic of the Wizarding World as you’ve never seen it before in this illustrated full colour hardback edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Rowling's Harry Potter books have just about everything: wonderful characters occupying an imagined world coupled with situations and plots to keep the reader interested in the seeming never-ending threads of story.

Nice and clean pages with small marks and slightly yellow on the outer edges, a couple of creases, nicks and small marks on the edges of the pages.

One of just 5,150 paperback copies of the first impression, published on the same day as the impossibly rare hardback. Pictorial hardback (small dent on the edges of the front cover) in fine condition, no Dj cover as issued. According to very well-known experts there are no copies with a print line 10-1, which indicates that a first Canadian edition has a print line 10-2. This irresistible anniversary edition – available for one year only – will bring back treasured memories for the fans who remember the excitement when Harry’s journey first began, as well as introduce a new generation to the unforgettable story of the Boy Who Lived.
