There were many things I didn’t like about “Assassin’s Quest” but despite everything that happened the positive things still outweighed the negative aspects of the book. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. An unabridged audio book edition by Tantor the 3rd of August 2010 with ISBN 9781400164363, narrated by Paul Boehmer, length 39 hrs.

I was just so invested in Fitz’s story and the fate of the Six Duchies that I had a hard time putting it down! I haven't measured, but I can confidently say at least 60% of the book is made up of this cycle repeating itself. A 4 star means I'm probably in trouble with my editor for missing a deadline because I was reading this book. So he turns into a madman for no apparent reason, and becomes a paranoid idiot who believes that everyone just wants to take from him what he rightfully deserves. And truth be told, there were quite a lot, which probably is the reason why so many of my friends didn’t enjoy this last book. Not only fans of the fantasy genre will enjoy these books as there is such a large human element to them that they appeal to all. This brings me to my third complaint- Fitz loses out on what made the first books so memorable- assassinations in a nitty-gritty universe, where stealth and cunning are rewarded.

I also would have liked a bit more info on both the Elderlings and the Red Ships, but I did really like the explanation we got for why they were attacking. I mean seriously their chemistry is amazing and I ship them harder than I ever shipped Molly and Fitz. I’m sad to finish this story, and sorry for all the other books on my TBR which will not get a look in, as the only thing that can possibly live up to this is the next in Robin Hobbs’s Elderlings series - Ship of Magic. Kettle reveals she is the last remaining member of a former royal coterie, though her Skill ability was taken from her. In short, Fitz is more of an anti-hero in the trilogy and he continues to not be very bright, which is a bit tiring.Yes, the book is long, far longer than the previous 2, but it could have been double the size and it wouldn't have been enough for me, such is my enjoyment at immersing myself in the world of Fitz and his companions (and adversaries)! This is perhaps due to the First Person nature of the story, as Fitz isn't an expert on his abilities either. Also, instead of focusing on the storyline, we instead get tons of herb and tea gathering that made me think this is a historical fantasy of British ancestors.

I will definitely continue to The Liveship Traders but contrary to my original plan, I’m going to take a few books break first before diving back into this world. Although, despite the awful romance and less of the Fool, I still liked Royal Assassin a tad more than this one. With the king no longer living and the heir, Verity, missing and declared dead, Prince Regal has treacherously seized the throne. Beyond the garden is a quarry of Skill stone where they find Verity, frail and obsessed with carving a dragon of his own. Usually, this shouldn’t be a problem especially when we already know that this is not the last trilogy in the Realm of the Elderlings series. The main issue I had with these new characters are they appeared only to show that they’re freaking aroused by Fitz and wanted to have sex with him right from their first encounter. I would thoroughly recommend the Farseer Trilogy to everybody and hope that you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did.

A Russian translation Странствия убийцы published by Эксмо in 2003 in hardcover with ISBN 5699017364 and Stephen Youll's cover art. I love how the possibility of Nettle being the last Farseer heir brought a rift between Fitz and his friends, and how it made Fitz care about something other than his uncles for once. The journey casts him into deep waters, as he discovers wild currents of magic within himcurrents that will either drown him or make him something more than he was. Now, back in his own body, and after months of rehabilitation, Fitz begins the painful and slow process of learning the ways of a man again.

The three books improve upon each other and Assassin's Quest is a perfect conclusion to an absorbing tale.
