Description

I think it's also important to note that Forget Me Not explores ideologies and actions that may be triggering to some readers including homophobia, racism, abuse and manipulation. Other than that though, I really enjoyed this book. There's a little bit of sad but a lot of love, of choosing your own way and making decisions that will set you on a brighter path. This box. It’s the only physical evidence I have of our two-year relationship, everything precious to me. If someone found this, they’d know everything, which is exactly why it needs to stay hidden for the next two months. I meant to just read the first few chapters of this and found myself instead reading it in one day. Even though we know the answers, it was compelling to watch Stevie try to piece together what happened in the time she lost and consider whether she really needs to recover it or whether she should embrace the opportunity to start fresh. After all, in this missing time she apparently became more distant from her friends and family and also applied to the local community college when she’s been waiting her whole life to go somewhere new. Does she really want to be that person? I know it might sound a little extreme, but sometimes it feels like she’s the only one I can be myself around, like she’s the only thing holding my feet to the ground and without her, I might just forget who I really am and float away.

I’VE SPENT MORE HOURS THAN I can count lying awake, finding hidden pictures in the random patterns of my popcorn ceiling. This love story is one I won’t forget soon. In fact, I’m going to replay my playlist and cry all the tears for the next week!

With the two leads being teenage girls, it allowed the author to branch out in a few different directions with the storyline. That's what really sets it apart form other amnesia plots. It was fascinating and heartbreaking to watch Stevie take in the fact she has no clue what has happened over these last few years. Nora having to deal with the aftermath of Stevie's accident was equally interesting. Thank you SO much to Simon Teen for sending me this beautiful ARC in exchange for an honest review. I had started writing this long ass review explaining, amongst other things, how some characters were absolutely toxic and infuriating (shoutout to Tyrone who remained that way from the beginning to the end). Just a wonder of a book. Stevie and Nora are getting ready to ditch the small minds and the tiny aspirations of their small town. They’ve kept their love a secret but now it’s time to start the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately, an accident causes Stevie to lose memory of the last two years which means Nora is a stranger to her now.

Not sure why I torture myself finishing books that aren't worth the effort, but currently waiting for far more exciting library holds, so thought I'd finish this disaster that I bought for some reason before I donate it. I’m not normally one for a romance novel but the magical twist on this had me hooked from the get go! This enchanting book could not be more timely: it brings much to inspire our future thinking, and is a joy to read. Sometimes if I really can’t sleep, she’ll talk to me like this for hours on end, and somehow, she always manages to find things that are worth saying.

Reviews

I felt the way this was written, and handled, was done with such care and grace. It was truly an honour to read.

Like many of her generation, Sophie Pavelle is determined to demand action on climate change. In her hilarious and thought-provoking first book, she describes the trips she took to see ten rare native species: species that could disappear by 2050 and be forgotten by the end of the century if their habitats continue to decline. The central themes of self-acceptance and family are cleverly crafted, and the execution poignant. I loved the dynamic of Jinsong’s family. I also enjoyed the exploration of single-parent/mother-daughter relationships. The complex dynamic between Calliope and her mother reminds me of my relationship with my own and it was exceptionally accurate.Side characters Savannah and Rory are manipulative, opportunistic (in the worst way) and rude. This is exemplified multiple times throughout the story. Between them pushing compulsive heterosexuality by convincing Stevie that she had a crush on a guy named Ryan and turning a blind eye to racist comments directed towards Stevie as an Asian-American, their cruelty was evident. These are two people you love to hate. Silas doesn't love me like all the characters love their counterparts in these books - because it's more than that. He loves me through them, in pieces, like patchwork on a quilt, a stitch here, a pattern there, never completely sewn together. Like he hasn't yet read his favorite story, but he's constantly trying. What would you do if you saw someone being bullied? How might you be an ally to someone who's different? A look inside the mind of a not so ex party girl’s escape from her crazy life.My intentions are to make you smile first and foremost. Lover of the fluffiest stories out there, rarely will you find mine not ending in a HEA. (Just depends on who you’re rooting for.) Forget Me Not by Q.B. Tyler – eBook Details
