In terms of using this for music, it does very well, but at its price, you can do better. But in terms of a gaming headset, it's still the best on the market. Which many of you will say “isn't that obvious it's a gaming headset” and well in general just because something is marketed for gaming does not mean it's even good at gaming or really at anything. The PC38x offers average sound quality, great gaming performance, and a steller tuning. Simply put, the PC38x does almost everything better. The FR of the PC37x is actually slightly better in terms of comp fps performance, it does not extend as deep in the bass and has more warmth in the upper bass and lower mids (the only downgrade for gaming fr wise), and a slightly recessed midrange, also a little brighter. Pretty much it's more V-shaped, the PC37x is kind of a more balanced HD599. While the PC38x is even more balanced and neutral. Long, drawn-out gaming sessions aren’t a hassle at all with these thanks to their generously padded, well-spaced ear cups and they present an overall build that’s solid and definitely built to last. I'll quote what I said of the GAME ONE's soundstage here. I've replaced GAME ONE with the PC38X below, though the statement is accurate to my beliefs, and applies to both. Spare Velour Pads - My guess is that these seem to be just like the velour pads used on the PC38X's older siblings. A nice inclusion, which may have an impact on comfort and sonic characteristics, if subtly so.

Drop + Sennheiser PC38X gaming headset review | PC Gamer

If you own an HD599 don't upgrade to the PC38x just EQ your HD599. But overall the PC38x is a better headphone than the HD599. The HD599 with a bit of EQ is slightly better for fps. The microphone is also great. Participants in my calls and meetings immediately noticed an improvement in quality over my previous Astro A20's and AirPod Pros. A good quality external mic would likely trump them, but for the price they sound great and will be more than enough for calls, meetings, online gaming and even some casual streaming/recording. So overall while comfort for me wasn't amazing and after break-in, it was fine, for most people this will be very comfortable. The spacious soundstage, sharp details, great tonal balancing, top notch extension both down low and up top make the PC38X a prime candidate for best gaming headset. In virtual surround, the PC38X is among the very best I've heard for accuracy, positional awareness, and object definition. Testing something like Call of Duty's Warzone with both Dolby Headphone 2, and Creative's SBX, I was extremely aware of where all my enemies were coming from, and where all the loot was in my general vicinity. For the PC38X, it's a very simple matter. Just stellar positional cues, soundstage depth, and great imaging. Rest assured, the PC38X is a monster for gaming. You can't do wrong here in choosing the PC38X for all your gaming needs. Disclaimer: A special thanks to Drop.com for sending the PC38X out to me for review. As always, whether products are sent to me or not, I do my best in being 100% honest with my views and opinions. If I don't like a product, I will refuse to write a review of it, or at the very least mention what I don't like about them, though I like to focus on products that people would like or at the very least are interested in. The only bias I have is to my readers and making sure they know about good products. This is really the area where it does the worse, its definitely an HD500 series level headphone, which is a shame since the tuning is so darn good. Clarity is overall fine but it doesn't do an amazing job with Micro Detail as it has a sort of dull edge to it. It's not a low res headset or anything. You also won't get a lot extra out of it with better source gear. Since it's fairly efficient and easy to drive it doesn't have a lot of scalability. Technical performance I want to start by saying for the price it hits average to above average at everything for its price. So keep that in mind while you read through the rest. The PC38x is a slight step over the HD599 and is better tuned, the PC37x is a slight step below the HD599 and is also better tuned.

Reddit Audeze Maxwell First Impressions : r/Audeze - Reddit

The design is similar to the 300s, sure, but the build quality is also great and worthy of the price tag; it's excellently solid, robust, and clamps to your head and ears incredibly comfortably. Even the suede-y ear cups are lovely. And on top of that, you of course get premium Sennheiser audio quality to go with it. Per darvi un'idea, dalla mia esperienza personale posso dirvi che riascoltando le mie canzoni preferite mi sono accorto di un'intera nuova gamma di suoni che non avevo mai sentito in passato. The EPOS GTW 70 Hybrid wireless gaming earbuds focus on offering a high-end audio experience for Switch and mobile gaming. Audio quality for music is also fantastic. They're not HD600's, but considering you don't need any external gear to power them and the price, they are wonderful headphones for music listening. I listen to a variety of genres on my iPhone using Apple Music, and everything comes through crystal clear, with lovely highs, warm mids and present but respectful lows. They aren't super bassy with a default EQ, but this can probably be boosted if you want additional bass.At this stage there isn't a lot to say about the standard Sennheiser gaming mic, it is getting a little dated but still performs very well for a gaming mic, but moving forward it should be improved, or at least a foam pop filter should be added to help with plosives and wind noise. The PC38X, is made of highly durable plastics that I feel will take moderate abuse without any major issues. There's really nothing bad that can be said of the build quality here. The conclusion is fairly simple. This is simply the best gaming headset on the market. If all you care about is performance in games (mostly fps) then this is an easy buy. Even in terms of just gaming for fun, it does fairly well because of its great neutral tuning.

Drop + Sennheiser PC38X Review: Inappropriately Musical Drop + Sennheiser PC38X Review: Inappropriately Musical

But with such a good tuning I just wished it performed better as well and like I said earlier it offers great sound for games and still sounds great for music. The PC38X can fill out a room quite nicely, and is absolutely brilliant when applying a virtual surround dsp for video games and other media, like movies. The tuning is fantastic, putting it in the top tuned headphones at any price. But the technical performance lets it down slightly, at its price it's not terrible, in fact like I said at the beginning, the sound is overall average to above average in all ways. So this is a gaming headset that can trade blows outside of gaming headsets. Which is very impressive. But not surprising as the PC37x was already better than most gaming headsets, and the PC38x sound wise is better in most ways over its predecessor. The pads size and depth are large enough to fit most ear sizes, and deep enough to keep your ears from bottoming out and pressing against the driver enclosure. The pads are soft fabric, more dense than velour. I can wear the PC38X for many hours and not feel the need to take them off. The alternative velour pads are perhaps a hint more comfortable to due it feeling cooler on the ears. They come with a USB-C dongle, allowing you to plug them into your Nintendo Switch and PS5, as well as a cable that will allow you to plug the dongle into a PS4, for example. On top of that, they also support Bluetooth, so you can sync them with any device that supports it. On that note, the presentation of teammates' voice audio is also great in the GSP 500s and better than the 300s overall - voices can be difficult for gaming headsets to master, but the GSP 500 is one of the best Sennheiser gaming headsets for this. It isn't removable which I personally don't mind because this isn't something you're going to be wearing outside anyways. Thankfully the flip-up mute that is featured on all Sennheiser (now EPOS) gaming headsets is still here.

Both cables (the shorter console cable and the longer PC cable) are made the same and there mostly the same as the PC37x cable. The PC38X has a wonderfully fabric padded underside which rests comfortably on the head. I initially felt some discomfort, but after a period of adjustment, I didn't feel any hot or sore spots coming from the headband. You may need some breaks here and there, but you should be able to wear it all day without much fuss. In a way, yes. But in another way, no. There's a little bit of history between the brand names and how it's all come to be under just the EPOS name now, but the bottom line is that Sennheiser's gaming audio has been folded into EPOS now - and the pedigree remains there. Clear ambiance-free communication The noise-cancelling microphone is designed for high-volume low-distance recording and is optimized to handle unpleasant pops and hisses—great for gaming Skype calls and video chatting But when it comes to Technical performance, I'm happy to say it's just a plain upgrade in all ways from microdetail to speed to dynamics. The only parts that are better are lateral imaging and it can position a smidgen more.

The build is your standard HD500 series headphone. All plastic, the plastic does feel slightly cheap but as time as shown with the HD500 series and the PC37x/Game One. They hold up fairly well. The only place I’d worry about is the Yolk which is a tad thin and may not survive being poorly taken care of. I really wish I could give these 5 stars. The unfortunate reality is that I noticed problems on the right side early on. About 2 weeks in. The audio would cut out but return. I thought it could have been a lose connection so I didn't think much of it. 2 months later it became a recurring issue that could be remedied by physically pressing on the right ear cup. Now it's really grown to be a frequent problem that I choose to deal with because I spent over a 100 on these and not to mention I really liked the idea of the headset. For gaming, these headphones don't require a lot of power and therefore you shouldn't need an external AMP. My Xbox controller is more than capable of powering them, as well as my Switch and PC's onboard audio. The audio quality is excellent, with a great soundstage and accurate positioning for game audio. With games like Battlefield V that have great sound processing, you have an almost aimbot level of positioning. I could clearly pinpoint enemies distance and location with these headphones and whilst they won't improve my aim, they certainly help locate them faster. A change from the previously used velour pads on the older headsets, the PC38X uses a denser foam padding covered in different fabric material. If I could make an educated guess based on subjective listening impressions, the pads seem to allow the PC38X to retain more of the low end bass decay compared to the velour pads that are also included with the PC38X as spare pads. Easy to drive any modern motherboard, modern game console, or half-decentUSB usb soundcard can power these. These are very easy to drive, you can power them off pretty much anything that isn't terrible.
