The Atari Flashback series are a line of dedicated video game consoles designed, produced, published and marketed by AtGames under license from Atari SA. Other than a short time releasing arcade games again as Atari Games after being sold (with home conversions for systems like the N64 carrying the Midway name), people associate Atari Games with Midway thanks to years of arcade collections. Granted there are other games from now defunct devs I would love to play again, but getting a collection of those I think would be difficult. When Midway went bankrupt in the late 2000's, most of their IP was sold off to Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment (A homecoming of sorts for Atari Games). The Atari Lynx was originally developed by Epyx as the “Handy” and was renamed to the “Atari Lynx” when Atari took over.

That earlier collection didn't review well such as at this site, but it wasn't because it was poorly developed (Code Mystics does good work) or because it didn't have good games. Even Atari Flashback Classics wasn't really published by them, even though you'll see them listed as the publisher at sites such as this one. Warner retained the arcade division, continuing it under the name Atari Games, but sold it to Namco in 1985.The handheld console feels great in the hand too, even if the button layout takes some getting used to for the Mega-Drive/Genesis titles. Epyx would declare bankruptcy in 1989, the same year they first showed the Handy to the world at the Summer 1989 Consumer Electronics Show. Most of the best retro consoles only have 20 - 30 titles on them, so there's a good chance that some of your favorites have been left by the wayside. This was the lineup for Midway Arcade Treasures, the release you originally named (Which was a Xbox, PS2, and GameCube release).

Morse's son had asked him if he could make a portable gaming system, prompting a meeting with Mical and Needle to discuss the idea. In 1984 the home console and computer line was sold to Jack Tramiel of Commodore fame along with past arcade IP (Properties like Asteroids were out of production for arcade sale but still had value with home releases, thus were bundled and sold alongside the console/computer side of Atari). Grumble Atari Lynx have officially emulated before on last years excellent Atari Lynx collections 1 and 2 on the Evercade. It was designed by Atari veteran Curt Vendel and his company Legacy Engineering Group, which designs other home video game and video arcade products. Phones and tablets also offer other advantages, including an ability to cloud-stream games on a growing number of services including Microsoft Game Pass Ultimate and PlayStation Plus.

The tiny, yellow, black-and-white-screened Panic Playdate looks like a weird Game Boy with a mechanical crank sprouting from its side. He praised the controllers for their reduced size, finding them more comfortable to use, but he was disappointed that they are incompatible with the original 7800. Atari Anthology is the collection you were likely referring to from that same console generation (It did have Crystal Castles). Now defunct magazine Dragon labeled the Lynx as being able to, “throw the GameBoy into the prehistoric age,” praising its display, launch titles, and multiplayer feature and giving it a five out of five rating.
