Description

The phone has a 16MP f/2.0 main camera, which is joined by two 2MP f/2.4 snappers, one macro and one depth-sensing. We’d actually recommend avoiding using these latter cameras, as we’ll explain in a second, so for all intents and purposes there’s only one rear camera here you’ll be using frequently, the main one. Available user storage is less due to preloaded software, and is subject to change without notice due to software updates. The color depth of the display is also known as bit depth. It shows the number of bits used for the color components of one pixel. Information about the maximum number of colors the screen can display.

One of the main characteristics of the display is its type/technology, on which depends its performance. Information about the process technology used in manufacturing the chip. The value in nanometers represents half the distance between elements that make up the CPU. The Moto G8 series is now penetrating. We already have a Moto G8 Plus, G8 Play and G8 Power. Striking about this is that the regular Moto G8 has yet to be officially announced. Space for a G8 Power Lite is hardly available and it is questionable whether there is actually a need for it. The Moto G8 Power will soon be on the counter for 229 euros, also has a 5000 mAh battery and is therefore already considered a very affordable midranger. Silent: You won't hear a sound or feel a vibration. But the notification will show up when you swipe down from the top of your screen.

Motorola Moto G8 vs G8 Power vs G8 Power Lite camera specs and samples

The battery is a key selling point of this phone. A capacity of 5000mAh wouldn’t necessarily be expected in a top-flight flagship phone, let alone a cut-price budget model like this, so it’s exceptional to see that specification. The display resolution shows the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. The higher the resolution is, the greater the detail of the displayed content. In terms of software, the Moto G8 Power Lite runs the slightly outdated Android 9, which means you’re missing out on the benefits Android 10 (which the G8 Power has) brings, like Dark Mode, Digital Wellbeing tools and Smart Replies. It’s not clear why Motorola opted for the outdated version of Android when the newer version is available, but we’d wager it’s another side-effect of the low price point. A CPU core is the processor unit, which executes software instructions. Presently, besides single-core processors, there are dual-core, quad-core, hexa-core and so on multi-core processors. They increase the performance of the device allowing the execution of multiple instructions in parallel. The specification is reflected in the price though. Only 4Gb RAM and 64Gb ROM, expandable with a micro s.d. card, if necessary. Only a 720p screen but clear and bright with very good colours. No 5GHz wifi. One reviewer commented that their's only had capacity for one nano sim and a s.d. card or 2 nano sims without s.d. card. The phone I received will accept 2 nano sims and a s.d. card, strange!

Previously owned Moto mobile phones from when the range was first introduced. Never had any problems with their performance or quality. This one, although a "budget" device is no exception. In spite of a low end processor, it does operate very well. Bought as a second, reserve phone but depending on requirements there's no reason not to buy this as a main device. The Moto G8’s camera software is straightforward and easy to use. There are four main modes of shooting: standard, bokeh, macro and panorama. Besides that, you’ve also got a beautifying slider – presumably for blurring out undesired details on selfies – and the HDR toggle. Pixels are usually measured in microns (μm). Larger ones are capable of recording more light, hence, will offer better low light shooting and wider dynamic range compared to the smaller pixels. On the other hand, smaller pixels allow for increasing the resolution while preserving the same sensor size. We found that with typical use – listening to music, scrolling through social media, and snapping the odd picture – the G8 Power Lite would last us two days. Intensive tasks will tax the phone of course, but the G8 Power Lite should last longer than the competition when performing comparable tasks. The aperture (f-stop number) indicates the size of the lens diaphragm opening, which controls the amount of light reaching the image sensor. The lower the f-stop number, the larger the diaphragm opening is, hence, the more light reaches the sensor. Usually, the f-stop number specified is the one that corresponds to the maximum possible diaphragm opening.
