There’s nothing as fancy as the iPhone 14’s new Dynamic Island, but there’s no big notch, either. We're frequently impressed with how effective the camera system is for day-to-day use, in any type of lighting.

The Google Pixel 7 is rated at a maximum charging speed of 30W and, in my testing, I found it went from zero to 50% in just over 30 minutes. It also supports 20W wireless charging via any Qi-compatible charger and it can reverse power share with other devices such as the Google Pixel Buds Pro. As mentioned above, the cinematic video is pretty ropey and you'll probably want to avoid it. And, like on the previous version, there's no slot for a memory card so you'll want to decide whether you need the 128GB or 256GB variant you need before you hit "add to basket". The brightness on the responsive OLED screen has increased by more than 20% from the 6 Pro, and during months of use, we've never had issues with using the smartphone in sunny or glare-heavy weather. If you're looking into buying a Pixel smartphone, it's safe to say you probably care a lot about how good it is for photography. We're always snapping away on our phones too, and the good news is that this is yet another brilliant Google camera driven by software. While the stats show that Google's handsets still make up only a small portion of all the smartphones out there in the wild, that number is growing faster than other brands and we can report that we've spotted an increasing amount of Pixel devices in the hands of our fellow commuters (it helps that the camera bar makes them distinctive!).From the outside, it might look like there's little difference between the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 7. Other features include 10-bit HDR, improved stabilization, and what Google calls ‘Speech enhancement’, which enables you to choose which audio to focus on in videos. Although Google fans will see a significant increase in power, the new phones will be smaller in size, hence smaller in battery capacity. And while we believe Google will find a solution to battery autonomy, we can’t help but feel that some external power-up will be needed. Bearing that in mind, a good battery case will be recommended – both to protect this great phone and juice it up a bit when needed.
