Quiraing. Another Isle of Skye icon. This is a more challenging hike, 4.5 miles in length, along the cliffs of the Quiraing. Perfect for older, adventurous kids. It was honestly such an honour to mode with The Buttons — so much hard work went into the shoot, but so much fun was had as well! Nikki and Francis were so patient and wonderful cheerleaders, and Jane made you feel so comfortable! I’d honestly recommend applying to model with TATB — especially if you happen to be above a size 24! Portree is the Isle of Skye’s largest town with a great mix of hotels and B&B establishments. The Skye pattern is the new summer dress release from Tilly and the Buttons. I was one of the pattern testers for this dress so I got an early version of it!If your bust, waist and/or hip measurements fall into different pattern sizes, you can draw a new line ("grade") between pattern sizes to get a bespoke fit for your exact body measurements. The great thing about the Skye dress is the only important area to fit is the bust. There is a lot of positive ease (aka room to breathe) at the waist and hips, so it's unlikely you'll need to combine pattern sizes - yay! wide single fold bias binding: sizes 1-6 – 3m (3¼yd); sizes 7-15 – 3.5m (3⅞yd) OR 0.4m (½yd) extra fabric (such as lightweight cotton) to make your own I hope this post has helped you decide if you need to do any fitting adjustments to your Skye dress. I used a really soft and smooth rayon that I got from Simply Fabrics last summer. I had all the intentions of making a summer dress with it at the time but never settled on a pattern. This was a great choice for a dress like this though as it has that lovely swishy quality that I love for a dress! Cellular Service. Don’t expect great reception on the Isle of Skye. During our visit in 2016, 3G was available in Portree and Broadford. Outside of these areas, there was little to no cellular signal. Therefore, it is a huge advantage to rent a car with a built-in navigation service. This helped get us from point to point when our cellphones were useless. We used O2 but another popular carrier is Vodafone. Update in 2022: According to this article, there may now be 4G in the Isle of Skye.If you often find your clothes are a bit tight across the bust, and usually have excess fabric pooling above the boobs, or conversely you may find there's a bit too much fabric in that area, then you might benefit from doing a bust adjustment to the front bodice.
