Description

Nicole Snow is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author. She found her love of writing by hashing out love scenes on lunch breaks and plotting her great escape from boardrooms. Her work roared onto the indie romance scene in 2014 with her Grizzlies MC series. Nonetheless, I really really liked this. It hits all the office romance marks. I like the main characters, but in the way I would expect these office romance vibes to pan out. Objectively, Lincoln is a bit of a garbage can. But I loved the way this panned out, it delivered all the drama and angst I could want, and I will 100% look for more books by this author. The FMC (can't even remember her name other than last name Poe) needs a change of pace and so she has an interview for a marketing position in an up and coming, though locally well-known company. Prior to going to her interview, she runs to a coffee shop to get a coffee and cinnamon roll and inadvertently gets the last one. Enter super hot guy with an ax to grind because there is no more of the pastries. Lo and behold, who shows up to her interview? Super hot guy, Lincoln. She ends up with the job and then a fake proposal comes into play to help launch a wedding line. Insert tropes of fiesty female lead with baggage and a male lead with a tortured soul who believes he's not good enough for girl. When Eliza shows up one morning at the Seventh Street Wired Cup location for a cup of coffee and to chat with her favorite barista, Wayne, she is appalled by the way his manager speaks to him, and when she has finally heard enough, she gives that manager a piece of her mind. Cole is taken by surprise when he finds a customer inserting herself and her unsolicited opinions into his meeting, and he soon finds himself steaming mad. But when Cole discovers Eliza’s talent with coffee, he knows she has what it takes to bring excitement to their brand again. Cole and Eliza dance around their attraction to one another as they work to develop Wired Cup’s new menu. They are hot and cold, but eventually, their shared love of coffee and their attraction to one another lead to passion. They eventually find a happy ending.

This is such a good Nicole Snow series. Like, amazing. She's so hit or miss. This series? Fantastic. Every book has been awesome, and this one was super awesome. Just like with the rest of the books of the series, it's enemies to lovers, and it does have some amazing banter and fun sections. It reads as a standalone, but I recommend starting from the beginning of the series because you'll get mentions here and there. Just an FYI: Snow's whole library of books is interconnected, so she'll reference all kinds of people from other books. An enemies-to-lovers office romance with slow-burn sizzle. Witness one commanding single dad become so enchanted with the hellion he can’t stand that he’ll do everything to keep her forever. Erotica is any story that places sex at the center of the story. They tend to use more frank language and usually include more sex scenes, often focusing more on the sex act rather than being a more traditional love scene, and may include more unusual positions or acts. Erotica may or may not deal with love or relationships and may or may not provide a happy ending for its protagonists. Jenn is an independent media expert, but is burned out of working in an office. She inherits her grandma’s house, but the house is falling apart. She does not have the funds to repair it, but refuses to sell it, especially to Miles, her grandma’s next door neighbor. Miles and Jenn get off on the wrong foot, when they first meet, and their exchanges just make the situation much harder to bear. This didn’t need to be as long as it is. I skimmed a lot of it and then at 90% I just skipped to the end. It was too syrupy, corny, cliche and angsty. snow spent 60% of the book on the enemies storyline but was not able in all of those words to create genuine chemistry between the lead characters. She wasted more time than any human with a life would put up with writing the I can/can’t, i will/won’t, I do/don’t. Nope, No, no thanks. I was over both of the leads and their unrealistic fear of love and all the side stories. For me it was exhausting and finally boring. I’m recommending it because I know a bunch of readers will just eat this up. Trying not to be a hater but really by the end of this I wanted to give it no stars.

Eliza inadvertently interferes between a meeting of a local barista, and the CEO of the coffee shop. They trade insulting words, and almost cause the barista to get fired. Eliza has accidentally left a sample of her home brewed coffee at the table, and Cole loves the flavor. Lastly, she quits the best well paid job because of a man!!!! And this to me is the most infuriating thing she did! So what you had a fight with the guy and he called your neighbourhood trashy!? You're supposed to be a professional, capable of making life changing decisions with your head! And don't even get me started with the worst most unprofessional resignation letter I have ever seen! I actually cringed when she said she CCed people on that! Now that I have finished reading, all my earlier thoughts were spot on! The tension between the characters as well as the building suspense of the plot(s) is magnificent! Not once did I lose interest at any time. You could say I was held captive in the very best ways! The antagonism this couple faces is both outward and from within. Miles lets the guard down on his heart, but not with his trust. Jenn is all in, open and honest, trusting and bursting with happiness and love. My sweet tooth betrayed me, and Lincoln Burns is one bad sugar rush. A coldhearted grump. A mile-wide ego. An eligible bachelor who doesn't “do” dating. Did I mention Mr. Congeniality runs a fashion empire with weddings in its sights? Of course he does. And, of course, weddings make me gag after my ex made my heart roadkill. Miles Cromwell, thirty-five, isn’t known for being warm and fuzzy. He has had a few women in his time, but he doesn’t see himself settling down. A recluse at heart, he prefers to spend his days alone, painting landscapes. It helps to calm and distract him from the ugly thoughts that often creep into his mind. As CEO of Cromwell-Narada Media, he cannot spend all of his time lying low at his Pinnacle Point home, much to his chagrin. His Seattle-based company is just a forty-minute flight away, and he lives there much of the year. Cromwell-Narada is a media giant and dominates the Pacific Northwest. Miles took over for his father years ago, and he works diligently to continue to grow the company and keep atop market trends. Unfortunately, his marketing department struggles to get out of the corporate mindset and isn’t keeping pace with new ideas in marketing, so getting traction in social media is an area that needs work.

Crankyface aka Grumpfather aka Cole Lancaster and Eliza's story is every bit as intense, emotional and suspenseful as any of Ms. Snow's other stories, or rather more of everything, and so heartbreaking it tore my heart apart. Lincoln Burns would do anything for his war brother Wyatt, including getting into a verbal sparring match with a gorgeous stranger outside a coffee shop to attempt to keep his Regis roll craving under control. Karma comes to slap him when she appears at an interview for a marketing copywriter position at his family company. She’s the best candidate but it’s clear that they rub each other up the wrong way and constantly spar their words. Oh, man. This book is blazing hot, clutch-your-sides hilarious, and an emotional whirlwind. Grumpy sunshine goes with fake dating like chocolate and peanut butter in a chef's kiss finish. Your fall reading list just got longer, and you'll want to send this new must-read by Lauren Landish straight to the top! I’ve read a handful of Snow’s books and have enjoyed every one so far. However, with previous books, I felt like she could/should have stopped the story (with it being complete) at least two or three times before she wrote the end. I didn’t get that feeling with One Bossy Dare. It was enthralling from the very beginning all the way to the end.

Customer reviews

We didn't exactly hit it off when he showed up with an offer to buy my land and my hyperactive dogs yanked my robe open right in front of him. This book was more than just Enemy to lovers. This had office romance, sexy neighbor, grandmother interference, grumpy billionaire and sunshine.
