This review contains spoilers for this film and the previous Tom Holland 'Spider-Man' films, though I have tried to greatly minimize any reveals. By far, the most distracting element of the first 'Spider-Man' for me is its over-reliance on "motion blur," which sometimes gives character movements (particularly in the action scenes) a very soft, unfocused quality. Alternate Reality Easter Eggs (1080p, 4:41): Peeking into the well-hidden secrets and homages scattered throughout the film.The glorious cityscape is similarly rendered with dazzling tones and whilst there's no strikingly incongruous and overly vivid colours to betray the original look of the piece, it still benefits from subtle WCG implementation and the added range from HDR enhancement, which caps everything off with solid and deep blacks. While the 4K Disc is still a definitive upgrade with Dolby Vision, this Blu-ray version is the demo-worthy 1080p presentation it deserves to be. The third film in the solo Spider-Man franchise within the MCU is packed with twists nobody will see coming, grande moments usually saved for a big Avengers film causing loud cheers from every audience member, and some of the funniest sequences inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
