In my opinion, it is not early in the morning, but that doesn’t mean that that’s not the best time objectively. I’m just not a morning person, so my mind is slow in the morning and I don’t engage things as well in the morning. For me, some time in the early or mid-afternoon is the best time for me to engage with the Bible. But that’s going to be different for all kinds of people. King David said that he made his prayers to the Lord in the morning, so there’s something to starting the day with that.
