Description

Craft beer, by contrast, seemed exciting and new, and people flocked into craft beer bars, free houses, and the occasional taproom (those would become popular a decade later) for vivid, exciting new beers like Jaipur. This beer is a award winning Indian Pale Ale which is smooth and soft and then Jaipur releases it's hoppiness which is accentuated by a hint of honey. Pale gold with a firm white head, it had all the contained vibrancy you want in a great pint of cask ale.

When American craft beer headed back across the Atlantic, it barely resembled the cask bitter that originally inspired it. Packed full of American hops, Jaipur’s hoppiness builds in the mouth and bursts with powerful citrus fruit flavours with a remarkably smooth finish. We are often told “this is the beer, that got me into beer” and we are always very proud to hear this. Pete Brown had tried American hops for the first time at the 2004 Oregon Brewers Festival, and was telling everyone who would listen about the new flavors he’d tasted. The beer has a slightly deeper colour than the DDH Jaipur I’ve reviewed previously and is completely different in appearance to standard Jaipur – I’m not sure if I should use the term ‘run of the mill’ with any of Thornbridge’s beers, standard will do for now. By summer they had a bold, 6% American IPA in tank, saturated with Cascade, Chinook, Ahtanum, and Simcoe hops. Bought 4 tins from Tesco - once opened lovely I was treated to lovely aromas - orange and grapefruit.

The Brewery Bible is proud to work with breweries and beer venues of all shapes and sizes to enhance the beer lovers experience. Its first beers appeared in February 2005, brewed on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. Here we have the second of Thornbridge’s special versions of Jaipur IPA brewed to celebrate 15 years of their premier beer. It was an important moment in British brewing, as a new generation of beer drinkers found these breweries exciting in a way traditional ale breweries weren’t. That would have meant a stronger beer, a more bitter one, and certainly not one that would have worked on cask—one of the formats in which Thornbridge packaged Jaipur. All of these (aside from the cider) are brewed a mere 100ft away, in the next warehouse across from the Tap Room. Usually recognised at the First UK Craft IPA, Jaipur is the flagship beer of Thornbridge Brewery, the one that really helped solidify the brewery’s presence on the craft beer scene back in 2005.

In all versions, the nose and initial impressions are purely Pacific Northwest—grapefruit, sweet orange, fir. It wouldn’t matter what we did now, even if we marketed the hell out of it, we’d never be able to make a beer outsell Jaipur,” says Lovatt. Shelf life: Long - The foil bag contained within the keg allows for a much longer shelf life than a normal beer keg, even when connected 6- 8 weeks. Approx 16-18cm long and 1 cm diameter – straight or slightly curved – dappled with fat and specs of pepper.Thornbridge is far from alone in still having that approach, but to be the one leading this style of brewing for 15 years makes it one of the most enduring breweries in the U. He promised to help Harrison get a brewery off the ground in exchange for using the site to contract brew additional batches of Kelham Island beers. We balance these with a great English malt base of Low Colour Maris Otter from Norfolk that helps keep the beer light and drinkable with enough sweetness to keep it in harmony. Balance with a great English malt base of Low Colour Maris Otter from Norfolk that helps keep the beer light and drinkable with enough sweetness to keep it in harmony. The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when the founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

An example of such a manor is Thornbridge Hall, an estate dating to the 12th century in the trees and hills of the Peak District. Squeezing more from fruity hop varieties (even some from the England), breweries are making a new range of sessionable cask ales. We wanted to brew a beer to celebrate our 10th anniversary,’ says Webster, ‘so really it had to be a Jaipur related beer and it had to be 10%!It looked to the US craft beer scene for its marvellously hoppy character, while the name comes from the Indian city with its famous pink walls (which is why the beer’s label is the same colour), where Thornbridge founders and owners Jim and Emma Harrison were married. NOTE: Equipment for fermentation/brewing and storage/dispensing is not included and should be bought separately. Their first brew was Lord Marples, a 4% classic bitter, which went on to become a core Thornbridge beer. The New England craze only seems to have spurred sales, and anyone worried about the decline of West Coast ideals could look to Jaipur for reassurance.
