Description

Mulan marks an important change in the Disney princess dynamic because unlike so many of her predecessors, she has no time for or interest in the pomp and circumstances of ballgowns and makeup. When her aging father is conscripted to serve China against the invading Huns, it is Mulan who steps into the soldier gear to become one of the Emperor's most important and effectual soldiers. In fact, it is purposefully quite the opposite, with the princess hating fashionable dresses and running off with the dragon instead of the prince. But having freed Sue from her tower, the prince isn't too pleased when he discovers that she would rather ride horses and battle dragons than stay indoors wearing a pretty dress. The moral of this story is hard to ferret out, but if we had to guess, it falls somewhere in the middle of "don't ever disobey your parents" and "only a white knight can save you from your own bad decisions," so clearly, Aurora's tale is not the most empowering of the Disney princess bunch.

Sometimes a gal needs the pick-me-up, and what better way of getting it than a flight on Dragon-Air? While Disney princesses are mostly cheerful and lovable characters who are always portrayed as selfless characters whether it's Belle sacrificing herself for her father or Moana putting her life in danger to save her island Disney princesses are heroes overall but have also done some terrible things as well throughout their time in the Disney cinematic universe. In the end, Princess Sue accepts that she is the worst princess and comes up with a plan to break free from the life that the prince has planned for her.Not the first picture book I've seen with this theme, but I always enjoy these twists on classic tales.

The book can be for everyone because of the lesson it brings and I want to use this books to teach my children to live the way they want to live the way God wants them to be. Princess Sue has waited forever for a prince to come rescue her from the boredom of her tower, but, when he finally arrives, she doesn't get the happy ending she's been expecting. Ariel from The Little Mermaid was the first princess to break this pattern, but Disney fans still dislike her.

Mais un jour elle trouve le moyen d'échapper à son triste sort et c'est partie pour une vie pleine d'aventures.
