It’s such a wasted opportunity and baffling that it’s as popular as it is - have the book’s fans not read other superhero books? I got this comic from a friend (thanks again, Dave), otherwise I would have probably never even known about it. Like I said, it’s not horrible and I know a lot of people love this series but to me it is quite overrated and bland. In July 2023, during San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Skybound Games and Ubisoft would release a mobile game based on the series, entitled Invincible: Guarding the Globe, with a release date yet to be determined. It's time to graduate to a more mature young adult superhero comic, and I suggest picking up Ultimate Spider-Man instead.

From visionary creatorsRobert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Cory Walker (Science Dog), and Ryan Ottley(Amazing Spider-Man).The property has also been extended into a blockbuster game franchise, licensing business and ongoing publishing success. He's pretty much a mix of Spidey and a young Superman and it was so fun to read Family Matters in-between long, boring, books. Two weeks later, Mark, in a homemade costume, stops a supervillain with rock-hard skin from stealing jewels. First and foremost a comic book creator, Kirkman has seen groundbreaking success in the adaptation of his comic book titles into major franchises in all forms of content. Maybe I'll read more and find that out for myself, or maybe I'll just watch the show and get straight to the good stuff.

When Mark Grayson inherits superpowers atseventeen, it's a dream come true - until he learns that being a hero isn't asblack and white as the comic books he read as a kid. Half-human, half-alien teenager gets superpowers, dons a spandex suit, joins a team of teenagers (aptly named Teen Team), and saves the world. There are oh so many instances I can choose from to demonstrate this point, but I'll just include two. In that short sentence, I must have covered something like 80% of Kirkman's characterization right there. At first shown to barely coexist in the same universe, the characters have since been integrated into Invincible's book. For instance, Mark is a typical teenage boy, Deborah is a loving mom, Nolan is a tough and competent dad, and Eve is a pretty girl. His son committed suicide which also resulted in him getting divorced from his wife and also shortly thereafter lost his job.
