Earstudio ES 100 MK II vs Qudelix 5K (90 USD vs 80 USD) – It feels a bit like 5K from Qudelix was made as a child of ES100MK2, but made by a different designer. The two bluetooth receivers have a similar build, similar overall build quality, similar concept, but different design and aesthetics. The overall audio performance is comparable, but 5K is a bit more neutral, manages to squeeze a bit more detail from music, but has much less dynamic, less driving power, and less overall realism to it, where ES100Mk2 is more punchy and warmer in the bass and mids. The battery life is decent, and the performance is outstanding. I never lost connection even with a wall in between the phone and ES100MK2, but the battery life is a bit low when driving hard to drive headphones and if using an LDAC connection. I always used LDAC, and it is stable, which is really cool for a budget Bluetooth receiver. It can get into overdrive mode, which you can see in the app, and that sounds exactly like it, overdriven. It also has a mode for twice the current if you want to drive harder stuff, like HIFIMAN Sundara, and this option does not lead to overdrive. The Ambient Sound feature is interesting, pumping ambient sound into the earphones, eliminating the need to remove good sealing IEMs in some cases, such as to hear an announcement on mass transit.

The Radstone ES100 is a phenomenal bluetooth receiver with excellent sound quality, good 3.5 ouput power and powerfull 2.5 balanced output. It have all the features any audiophile could dream of and its battery life is excellent. This take bluetooth sound to the next level with its great dual AK4375a DAC, its DCT technology that transform 16bit into 24bit and L-DAC, Aptx-HD (etc) codec compatibility. Earstudio put lot of work into creating this audio device wich is even more impressive to use with the dedicate application to control it. I really think this is a must have to any phone user that either want better sound quality, more amping for demanding headphones or extra portability that will not drain the phone battery life. The bass if ES100MK2 is fairly deep and full, with a bit of warmth applied to the midrange too. The bass is not necessarily basshead, but it has good substance, and especially if you have a brighter, or neutral IEM, it should give them a bit more soul and life. Especially with Headphones like HIFIMAN HE400SE (review to come soon), I had an excellent overall experience, with good overall depth, good impact, and excellent overall dynamics. At the heart of the Earstudio are two AK4375a DAC/HPAMP ICs and they really do provide an incredible sound, particularly when used in conjunction with a high-quality codec such as aptX HD or LDAC.Bluetooth receiver designed to deliver studio-quality sound through your ears WIRELESS - using your existing wired headphones, earphones or even speakers. Radsone promises 14 hours of usage out of a single charge; this figure is subject to change depending on how one uses the device, so it’s no surprise that in my usage pattern I was able to achieve around 12 hours of use (using the 3.5 mm output). The Earstudio application is a MUST, you can use the device without it and it will be recognize easily by your sound source like a non adroid based DAP with BT, but for a phone it take the ES100 to next level. With this app you can control whole potential of dual dac chips, you can choose type of current output like normal or high performance for 3.5mm so it will give about 1 or 2 times current power, you can use a top of the line EQ that work wonderfully, you can change source and analogue volume, buffer lenght, multipoint pairing, over sampling rate, crossfeed, mic volume and even ambient mode that make you ear outside noise so you can stay alert in urban survival mode. Man, there too much features to explain so its really up to you to discover them and earstudio understand this by explaining every aspect of there features. What hit me first by comparing these two is how overly smooth sounding is X3ii compared to the more energic ES100, should it be with Monk+, Tinaudio T2 or Takstar PRO82 headphones, the ES100 sound more lively and fowards, wich give more sens of deepness and tigher bass presence. The X3II in other hands have slightly more finess and transparency, but in a wide panoramic approach while the ES100 have space between instrument layering instead of transparent veil.

Things like the 4 digital filter settings of the AK4375a DAC, the level of cross-feed and Radsone’s proprietary Distinctive Clear Technology (DCT) will get any audio nerds neurons firing and all can be manipulated within the Earstudio app. BASS of X3II feel less impactfull and full bodied, especially in mid bass where the punch is smoothed while the ES100 is a little emphased and have tigh fast approach that never feel hollow even if not with as much decay than X3II.

Gear used for testing include the Sony NW-ZX300 and Shanling M0 as sources (both LDAC) and my Android smartphone (aptX). IEMs tested include Sennheiser IE 800 S, Custom Art FIBAE 3, RevoNext QT2 and TSMR 7-Star. The hardware EQ is ‘cool’ but I leave it off as I trust source and Noble K10U IEMs to take care of managing the sound. The sound is open, dynamic, punchy and vivid too, detailed enough for the price point, with excellent overall substance and impact.

Unlike other products with similar traits, I didn't find the ES100 restricted to earphones with certain signatures. Whether it was being paired with the neutral and very detailed Astrotec Delphinus 5 or smooth and bassy Meze 99 Neo, pairings always sounded great. It's a very versatile product, a quality aided greatly by it's low output impedance.Some people may say that a digital piano doesn’t give you the same feeling like a real piano, but this is not the case with the Kawai ES100. Giving you the option of transporting it wherever you need to go, the Kawai ES100 is ideal for when you need to take your musical instrument with you to band practice. Featuring 88 grade-weighted keys, the ES100 keyboard responds just like a real grand piano, and is therefore an ideal choice for beginners seeking a starter instrument on which to learn. However, its realistic, acoustic-like touch will also appeal to more experienced players looking for a second piano for after-hours practise, or to simply enjoy a little music at the holiday home. the battery section makes it possible to enable “battery care mode” which only charges the battery to 80-90% and allows it to last longer. It is especially useful if one uses the ES100 mainly through USB. There is also a setting related to charging, which makes it possible to automatically power off the device when the charge stops (e.g. if you use the ES100 as a Bluetooth bridge on your car, so the ES100 automatically shuts down when you turn off the car and then wakes up when you turn the car on). One can also set whether to make the ES100 rely on external power or if it only has to draw power from the internal battery, so that it does not drain the battery of devices it is connected to using USB; The Radsone EarStudio ES100 is small, yet this does not stop it from having every possible feature one would want.
