We personally test each pair of shoes in our home gyms and rate them on a variety of factors, such as: I primarily wanted a separate performance section to discuss the Reebok Lifter PR II’s performance for things like machine exercises and variations where a heel elevation is desired like quad-biased split squats and walking lunges. For starters, if you like a higher heel height, then you’ll want to explore other options. The heel height listed on the heel of the Lifter PR 3 comes out to 15mm or .6 inches.

Lastly, I think if you love Reebok and the novelty of the pump system, then I could see you also really enjoying the Legacy Lifter III. The pump isn’t necessarily a make or break with this regarding its performance, but it does add a cool element to this model. Who Shouldn’t Invest In the Reebok Legacy Lifter III?

Reebok Lifter PR 3 Pros

Finding the best weightlifting shoes, in particular, is important for making progress in squats, deadlifts, snatches, and clean-and-jerks. For that reason, and because I’m kind of a sneakerhead, my team and I put together this guide to the best weightlifting shoes. Third and lastly, this shoe’s high-density EVA foam midsole’s stability should be plenty fine for beginners. When squatting up to 3 plates and more and when cleaning over 250 lbs, I never had issues with the stability in this model. For example, some taller lifters may find that it feels nearly impossible to hit quality squat depth with good mechanics in flat shoes while a shorter lifter or more mobile lifter may have no issues with this style of footwear. Over the course of my review process and testing with the Reebok Legacy Lifter III, I found a few things to really enjoy about this shoe.

Even though the Lifter PR II utilizes an EVA foam for its midsole and heel I never experienced compression issues when squatting. Foam midsoles and their stability can be hit or miss for squats as evident in the forefoot of the Nordic Powerlifting Shoes. With a heel height of just over a half-inch, the Savaleos are perfect for acclimating oneself to elevated lifting shoes, as well as for using as a hybrid shoe you can take from the lifting platform to a barbell WOD. That moderate heel height does mean that the Savaleos aren’t the best at providing mobility assistance with squatting—if you need more confidence and depth in your squat, take a look at lifting shoes with a heel of 18-20 millimeters, or about three-quarters of an inch. When you’re looking into buying either your first pair of weightlifting shoes or your next pair, there are a few key construction details that I’d suggest paying attention to. If you have additional questions on the Reebok Lifter PR II’s sizing and fit or how they compare to other models, drop a comment below or reach out to me personally and I can help you out accordingly. Price Breakdown They’re heavy, so they make you feel like you can really dig your heels into the ground. The wide base and flared heel increase that element of stability. With a 20-millimeter (0.75-inch) heel height, the Roms provide optimal support for squatting to full depth and receiving the barbell in an upright position. This ultimately increases your chances of a successful lift every time. While training and reviewing the Reebok Lifter PR II, I found multiple pros and things to like about this model.

Upon closer inspection, I realized that the outsole on my left model had more toe spring than my right shoe. I noticed this during my first few sessions while breaking this model in, and noticed it most when in-between sets. In the context of only using these shoes for squats, I think their price, despite my thinking it’s high, could be more justified as they should last you years if you’re taking care of them and only using them for squats in your workouts. Testing the Reebok Legacy Lifter III for Weightlifting All that said, for beginners and lifters wanting a shoe solely for squats, the Reebok Lifter PR 3 can be a good option due to its price point, stability, and outsole traction. Testing the Reebok Lifter PR 3 for Weightlifting A weightlifting shoe will essentially replicate what a heel wedge does for your training. That being said, there are countless reasons why and when you’d want to use weightlifting shoes for your training and this will be based on your individual needs. Flat Shoes Vs Weightlifting Shoes The TYR L-1 Lifter is my favorite option for wide feet, and note, I have E-width feet. In the context of toe box width in weightlifting shoes, there isn’t a model that competes with the TYR L-1 Lifter.

Construction Details

If you’re debating between the Reebok Legacy Lifter 3 versus the Reebok Lifter PR 3, I think you’ll be happy with either of these shoes. For squats, weightlifting, and accessory exercises, both of these shoes perform really well. On top of this, if you find yourself wanting heel elevation for your squats, then a weightlifting shoe is a much better option than using a plate under the heel as a weightlifting shoe’s sole will give your foot more surface area which can then, in turn, can increase your stability and balance.
