It’s just the right amount of everything to my nose. I really adore this perfume. Funny because my sister had this one in her bedroom, dressing table, around 7 years ago. I dismissed it. Because at that time, I was moving into “ newer” scents. My mum bought me this one a couple of months ago and she said her first boyfriend gifted it to her in 1978. I was looking at Anais Anais for a very long time becasue of my current crazy phase of being into scents of 70´s and 80´s (the ones that scream on 100 km even after you leave the place and most of the people around you get nauseous) created mostly of the Lilly-of-the-Valley, Carnation, Hyacinth, Iris, Narcissus, Ylang-Ylang, Violet, Oakmoss... Because I never dared to buy it, I was really happy when my mum gave it me out of sudden.

I clearly recall the days when I had students who considered this to be a "little girl" scent, or "for 12 year olds", so it's truly amusing to read the "old lady" commentary. The day is soon to come when we read the review that claims Justin Bieber Someday smells like a Granny, haha. I was gifted a bottle of this in my mid-20s, now in my mid 40s with the same bottle (which is perfectly fine given the age) and I still don't like this one. I'm going to be the unpopular opinion here and say this smells like something my grandmother would wear (she didn't wear this one), an instant "old lady" smell to me. My 22 year old son thought the same thing. Yes, I know, people hate that term but I just don't know how else to describe it, no particular time period or memory comes to mind and "Mature" or "Outdated" doesn't fit it for me. Grandma sitting on wood chair doing crosstiches in her hands, suddenly she turns her face and see picture frame of her passaway husband with her when they were young, then she reminds of those times when he rode a bicycle to her home with a lot of white flowers in front basket, in their first flirting time. She smile with tears, missing of old good times. weather/season/time: All year round, except the hot (+30 C) days. I wore it at spring, mostly. Casual to semi-formal. Day. This is sort of everything that works for my skin…..Not too sheer or wispy or sweet or skanky. Big florals but in an anchored way that never floats off nor overwhelms. I’m dying over the hyacinth in the beginning. This combination just feels like the floral that most works with my skin, and then a smidge of incense with a woody base. Sandalwood can be so sweet on me, this is perfect. Do I wish maybe it could last just a bit longer? Yes, but not many occasions I don’t say that. I’ll take what I can get.Oh yes - "A twist", but Anais Anais keeps beeing clean, quite green and pastel floral, great for the spring. It was not until around hour 10 that this wonderful fragrance had finally disappeared. I do not doubt it could have lasted longer, had I resisted the urge for body hygiene. And I remind you - we are talking about the EdT here! Anaïs Anaïs is a scent I associate with my mom. Chanel No. 5 is her signature these days, but she wore Anaïs Anaïs a lot when she was younger as a summer fragrance. Apparently, it was the first gift my dad bought for her, so for sentimental reasons as well as appreciation for the perfume itself, she loves AA. As do I. An ubiquitous girly scent of the eighties, AA is a floral classic. Sweet, angelic and clean-cut, it is the kind of thing that a naive, innocent young girl (with excellent taste) would likely gravitate to. This is the reformulation, sparser than the original, but the DNA of the original is very much present, according to my scent memory. Dad bought this version as a gift for Mom a couple of years ago "for old time's sakes".

Reminds me of graded reader book in primary highschool time named "When Grandma And Grandpa Were Still Young", and this is the first time I think of it again after 17 years So, if you are not into florals, or the florals are on the margine of what you prefer to wear - I strongly recomend to test it first. To me this scent has just such a vintage feeling. It smells a bit like what I imagine "vintage" smells like. Quite ladylike, not necessarily old-ladylike but more like feminine without the girly part. It smells serious. It is the type of scent that I would expect on a very clean and crisp looking young woman, somewhere around 25-35 years old, wearing a neat dress and classic heels. This perfume is not flashy, but it's decent and a bit conservative. I also would not call it sexy, or expensive. But it really emphasises the femininity of the wearer. It smells like a bouquet of flowers without the sugar added that you find in most contemporary perfumes.

Cacharel Anais Anais Eau de Toilette

This is pleasant but can't hold my attention; an hour of fun before I move on to something more interesting. I lost my mom far too young, for both of us- she was only 41 and I was 19- I have now been without her for as long as she was with me. Anaïs Anaïs was worn by my mom in her youth - her first gift from my dad apparently, so it is close to my heart. I have a bottle of the current version, marked "L'Original", but recently acquired a vintage miniature of this, the true original. I've compared the two versions, and while the new one isn't a bad recreation of the beloved original Anaïs Anaïs, it is a simpler, sweeter, less nuanced version that runs out of steam at the drydown. I still like it, it does the job and evokes memories, but this 1970s original is superior. I cannot recall any specific memories of who in my life may have worn this fragrance, I only know that it seems to be etched into my DNA somehow and is a fantastic match for my chemistry and who I am. Even with clothing, I can’t do wimpy or small scales, or A-lines, it’s not the proportion for my body or my shape. I need a lot of fabric, cut right.
