i haven’t read a fantasy book in awhile and i kinda miss it for the world building and all that but this book didn’t really get me back in the mood for it like this shit was so eh. But after her debt is paid, will they be able to let her walk away or will they finally listen to their souls?

Part origin story, part enemies to lovers, masterful game of chess, we get to discover these characters in multiple eras as we find out just what the history is between them all and what has led to the desperate, volatile, and dangerous arrangement that now exists between them. it’s just super forgetable there’s nothing special about the characters or the plot and it didn’t even have smut to make up for it like i needed something to keep me pushing through this book. i feel like the main girl has favorites among this relationship it doesn’t feel equal standing i feel a good rh book should have.

I loved the insights into the past, the way they were interwoven with the present day and the way the relationship between them all unfolded was sublime.

I haven’t read many Bea books yet, but I can already tell she always have something unexpected and new in her stories. The mysterious trio have been present in a lot of Bea Paige's stories and to finally get into their heads has been incredible. For every chapter or event in the present that they experienced, we got to see the history that sparked that turmoil for them. I was always intrigued by Arden, Lorcan, and Carrick when we met them in 2 other stories in this interconnected world. I think they would have hurt her again because while they have accepted her as one of them, they have not accepted her as an equal.The story alternated between their past and present-day, allowing the reader absolute insight into the twisted relationship these four share. Guilty pleasure, not gonna lie, and there were hints in book 1, which makes sense with how close the guys are, and I hope we get more in book 2! And even thought it's set in the modern day, it has a timeless feeling, there aren't references to characters checking social media on their phones, or anything). I love the tinctures she makes and how she can affect the guys so easily but has so much restraint its not even funny.

i’m not gonna do a summary bc this book was boring as shit and i don’t wanna bother remembering it but the plot was mediocre along w the characters there’s like no growth within the main girl i feel and the main guys changed ig but i didn’t care about it enough like the ending was a cliffhanger bc main girl got kidnapped but i’m not reading the next book there’s sm other better books out there. Arden, Lorcan, and Carrick deal in secrets and when it's time to pay their debt, you don't dare disobey. Like Cyn, his character had nice moments, but because of how he almost never stood up for Cyn knowing that he himself knew how wrong it was what Carrick and Arden were doing made his good moments easy to forget.The characters are well developed and scenes referenced from other books in the saga fit right into place without inconsistencies. I've been curious about the Deana-Dhe since Academy of Stardom, that I've been made up to finally have their story.

I kept picturing her as one of their beautiful butterflies, and them cruelly plucking her wings off. I also really liked how the past was chronicled so we could read all the events that lead up to the present without the book being an academy romance. To explain, it's set in a contemporary world but we've got clairvoyant characters who see visions of the future and an herbalist FMC whose so good at her craft some could argue she's a green witch!But that’s not a simple business transaction, because those 4 have a past that extends to their school years. But the fact that despite his personality making him seem like it was the easiest to crack open out of the three, it felt like there was so much more to be said and discovered about him IMO. And it’s perfectly mixed with years of family drama and a little bit of magic: not only Cyn’s gifts challenge science, Arden has visions of the future and the 4 of them are tied by more than story, by a true soul bond none of them can escape. I myself had a lot of trouble with that at the beginning because I was more interested in the present, and didn't find the chapters in the past interesting.
