It is a waterproof product that can withstand exposure to moisture, extreme temperatures, and UV radiation. It also has excellent adhesion properties and remains flexible over time. This makes it ideal for sealing gaps around windows, doors, and other areas exposed to water, heat, or cold. The ceiling between the uppermost story and the attic is a notorious source of air leaks. The tops of partitions, electrical and plumbing lines, HVAC chases, can lights—they’re all potential sources of warm, moist air for an unconditioned attic. The aluminum duct tape can be used to seal just about anything in the ductwork, from loose connections to small leaks or holes. After using the aluminum duct tape, use ductwork mastic such as the one linked here to go over it.
