Salcombe`s history in the 1900s was defined by the numerous fruiters trading ships that imported various citrus fruits and spices from around the world, including the Azores, West Indies and the Mediterranean. It was important for the Salcombe distilling company to promote the history and develop Gins using fresh citrus peel and Mediterranean flavours, so fresh lemon peel, lime and grapefruit fruit peels were utilised, alongside the actual fruits.
