Fifty years on, C.P. Company is still the pioneer of Italian sportswear". British GQ. 2021-03-09 . Retrieved 2023-08-09. Although the accompanying book is out of print the promotional films can be found here in two parts: Philips Electronics N.V. (2000). New Nomads An exploration of wearable electronics by Philips. Rotterdam: 010 Publishers. p.22 Robert-Jan compiled a historical timeline of the world’s most desired GMT watch here on Fratello: The Rolex GMT-Master and Master II. According to this timeline, the watch has finally stepped out of the shadow of its diving brother. In other words: the Rolex GMT-Master has also become a highly sought-after timepiece. Rolex developed the watch in the 1950s, in collaboration with Pan American Airlines, the world’s largest airline at the time. PanAm started flying intercontinental and, soon after, trans-Atlantic, from New York to London and Paris. Travelers loved the time savings but also suffered jet-lag for the first time, due to time zone differences. Ryan, S. E. (2014). Garments of Paradise: Wearable Discourse in the Digital Age. During this period, Osti laid the foundations for a creative philosophy entirely based on experimentation. The first innovation he would be responsible for in the clothing industry was garment dyeing, a process that completely revolutionized the field. [4] It was based upon the concept of different materials in finished garments reacting differently to the same dye bath. Osti discovered that garment dyeing creates interesting tone-on-tone effects. This particular dyeing technique became typical for Osti's C.P. Company. In 1981, he launched "Boneville", a new brand alongside the existing CP Company and CP Company Baby collections. It all started in 1987 when a style assistant for Studio Osti encountered a new material from Japan named Sway. The material was nylon coated with resin, containing thermosensitive microcapsules which allowed colour change in the dye with change of temperature. M.T.t.N or Multi Tension trilobate Nylon is a fabric constructed from two separate nylon yarns with opposing tensions which gives a fractured bold old-school retro aesthetic. C.P. Company was founded in 1971 by Bolognese graphic designer Massimo Osti, the man considered by many as the ‘godfather of urban streetwear’. Initially, C.P. was a small apparel brand where Massimo would experiment with the application of cutting edge printing techniques he learned whilst working in the advertising industry onto t-shirts. At the time, placing prints using technologies like CMYK four-color processing and silkscreening was unheard of, so Osti’s small collection of graphic tees was wildly innovative earning him the opportunity to design a full menswear collection.
