As with any detailing regimen, the proper preparation is key when it comes to C4. It is recommended that it is left to cure for at least 12 hours without the trim becoming wet. This may pose an issue for some, and I have heard that those that did get it wet whilst it was still curing and the results were a bit patchy. If it is the case that you cannot be guaranteed to keep the trim dry, then I would recommend that you do not use C4 until such times as you can guarantee this. Use the AP1 Lint-free Applicator supplied to spread the coating onto the surface of your trim. Soak the pad with several drops of product Gtechniq C4 is more than just a polish though. The reason it appealed to us to test was due to the fact that, according to the blurb, “ Gtechniq C4 utilises a covalent or chemical bond to actually become an extension of the plastic molecule it’s protecting. Not to be confused with much weaker electrostatic bonds used by, amongst others, ptfe based polymers Gtechniq C4 actually swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car’s trim.”

Make sure you wash and dry the area:Ideally, you'd do a exterior plastic trim restore session after a car wash anyway, but make sure the plastic surface area you plan to apply your choice of trim restorer product to is thoroughly cleaned and dried before using any of these products. To return your product, you should mail your product to: Clean and Shiny (UK) Limited , Unit 1 Redan Hill Industrial Estate , Aldershot , GU12 4SJ, United Kingdom Now the plastics are treated with C4, I am simply going to wash and dry them. I gather that the formula actually merges into the "dna" of plastic, enhancing the look and protecting the finish.

The guidance says to apply with a make-up remover pad and to wipe off with a microfibre towel. That towel should be an old towel because this stuff crystallises into the fabric of the towel rendering it pretty useless for other tasks. Having coated my laptop at work on Friday, I was used to the drill and decided to deviate slightly ... Once you have spread the product onto a single piece of trim, immediately remove excess product using a Microfibre Buff Cloth I've just applied it ... I have no idea how long it will last. I have VERY high hopes and equally, HIGH expectations. You can see that once dried the product will drastically darken the trim leaving a dark, rich sheen on the trim. Top of our charts for this one is the extremely impressive Gtechniq C4 permanent trim restorer, it’s quite simply an astonishing product which delivers exceptional results everytime. Gtechniq are a UK based company who specialise in car care and detailing products. Their lineup of products is extremely impressive to say the least and ranges from trim restorers to shampoo.Ensure that the surface to be coated is entirely free from fats/oils or previously applied products – for this clean trim vigorously with a 1:10 dilution of Gtechniq W2 Universal Cleaner Once you have spread the product over each piece of trim, gently wipe away residue immediately with an MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth. If your car has heavily textured trim take time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed from them Work in a well ventilated area, at a temperature above 5 degrees Celsius and out of direct sunlight. Wear the gloves provided. To work ... I used neat IPA and a number of make-up remover pads. Well, my Mrs has requisitioned at least one spray bottle of Serious Performance Ultra Citrus Cleaner for household tasks, so I thought the return of favour was fair. Yes, make-up remover pads. Best get the kind of cushioned ones which cannot be ripped apart easily - any fluff is a bit of a pig if it catches on old rubber, or something like. Before you start, ensure that you have enough product for all of your trim. For example, if you have a Pajero (30ml) you would need more product than you would on a Golf (15ml)

There are two situations to use C4 in. The first is on a brand new car where you want to protect the trim from premature fading. The second scenario is when the trim has started to fade and you would like to return it to its former glory. C4 uses a covalent or chemical bond to actually become an extension of the plastic molecule it's protecting, swapping part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car's trim to provide a protective coating of unparalleled durability. Revitalise tired and faded trim such as those found on wing mirror surrounds, windscreen wipers/trim, bumpers, mud-flaps, engine bays and more. It’s an aspect of car detailing which can really take the final finish of a vehicle to the next level. You may well have the paintwork, glass and wheels all looking beautifully clean and protected, but plastic trim can often need its very own attention. Gtechniq C4 is one of the go-to products for plastic trim in need of some love and in Joe Huntley’s latest YouTube video, he shows you exactly how you can prepare surfaces ready for a coating of this super-effective product. vc_column_text][fancy-ul icon_type=”font_icon” icon=”icon-chevron-right” color=”Accent-Color” alignment=”left” spacing=”default” enable_animation=”true”] I do know how long other products last, though. I have settled on Autobright TNT Treatment as my preferred plastics enhancer and apply that every couple of weeks. I don't see a lot better from any other product and find that product so easy to use that it is almost a pleasure. You know what I'm saying. Obviously, I won't be using it any more on areas that have C4.

Gtechniq - C4 Permanent Trim Restorer Reviews

I have a few areas which I had ear-marked for the C4 treatment, or coating I should say: wing mirrors, windows surrounds, rear light clusters, rear number plate surrounds and wheel arch flares. The rest of the "plastics" on our cars are actually painted and lacquered. Once you’ve applied a plastic trim restorer, you would expect the finish to be long lasting. Although there is no truly permanent fix, many premium options can last up to 2 years or longer. Although the longer lasting restorers are more expensive, they will reduce the amount of applications required per year. Using a heat gun to heat up the trim can bring out the oils in the plastic. However, all plastics are different and only so much oil can be taken from the plastic. It would also be best to test on a hidden piece of plastic before you attempt visible areas.

The first is how well the surface is prepped before applying it. If the trim has not been well prepared, then this will have an impact on how well the C4 adheres to and makes a bond with the trim. The other factor is the condition of the trim before the C4 was applied. The fact that it’s lasted over a year longer than advertised is a huge bonus. Strong UV absorption filter and chemical bond ensures maximum durability with a single application typically maintaining a flawless finish for up to two years. When applying the Meguiar’s plastic restorer, it’s advised that you use a small amount on an applicator pad and work the formula into the surface. It dries instantly and it’s non greasy to reduce the chances of leftover residue being left behind. After the car and the trim has been washed with a shampoo that does not contain any waxes or forms of protection and dried, the trim then needs to be prepared before applying C4. This can be done by using an all purpose cleaner. When I was applying C4, I opted to use Gtechniq W2. This is recommended by Gtechniq as the cleaner of choice. Given that this is recommended by Gtechniq, I thought it was the best way to apply the C4. It has made a noticable difference to the slightly faded plastics and even got rid of one minor stain - plastics have a lustre added to them.

If you prefer to use a spray formula, the Torque Detail plastic restorer is the best option. It’s a 3-in-1 spray that restores, shines and protects plastic, vinyl or rubber surfaces. The brand claim that it’s the easiest trim restorer to use on the market and they aren’t wrong. The advanced formula uses true nanotechnology, which permeates plastic and provides protection for up to 6 months. What's special about Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer?
C4 utilises a covalent or chemical bond to become an extension of the plastic molecule it's protecting. Not to be confused with much weaker electrostatic bonds used by, amongst others, ptfe based polymers C4 swaps part of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your car's trim.
