Description

If you want a glimpse into the mind of the Primarch, Corax: Lord of Shadows takes us into the depths of the Great Crusade. And if you’re after more tales about their harassment campaign after Isstvan, Corax compiles a number of short stories – including the Raven Guard’s desperate rescue of Leman Russ after his defeat by Horus . That’s right, our utterly unbiased Legion Day articles have reached the last – and best – of the Loyalists. These ominous operators show an uncommon regard for the feelings (and bodily integrity) of anyone not clad in power armour – after all, unlike some of their brothers, the XIX Legion manage to champion the little guy without burning his house to the ground.

This upgrade kit can be used to customise your Space Marines with alternative heads bearing the imagery of the XIII Legion. The kit includes nine helmeted heads, each with an eagle-winged face plate and crest, plus one bare head. Spread these components around your army and combine them with transfers to capture that signature XIII Legion aesthetic, or outfit entire squads to mark them out as elite Legion Veteran Squads. Ultramarines MKIII Veteran Torsos: December 17th, 2022This upgrade kit can be used to customise Legionaries from the MKVI Tactical Squad set with new heads, replacing the standard helmets with Ultramarines-specific headgear. The kit includes nine helmeted heads in three different designs, each with armour panel seams and alternative grille pattterns, as well as two heads designed for Sergeants – one bare head with noble features and a laurel wreath, and one beaked helm with an impressive transverse crest. Spread these components around your army to add some XIII Legion flavour, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. Ultramarines MKVI Shoulder Pads: January 21st, 2023 It all starts with a base coat of Zandri Dust Spray and a heavy drybrush of Morghast Bone . Following that I use Agrax Earthshade to do a recess shade before highlighting every edge I can reach with White Scar . The model is then covered with a heavily thinned layer of Iyanden Yellow Contrast applied using the biggest brush I can fit in the pot. Once dry, I apply another White Scar highlight, only hitting the forward facing edges this time, before again drenching the model in thinned Iyanden Yellow. A last highlight of White Scar, focused on the most prominent points of the armour and a third and final layer of Iyanden Yellow finishes the job, and gives a wonderfully smooth yellow. Gadge: Mantis Warriors

Overall these are not cheap, but I think they are sufficiently competitively priced to have a place in a Raven Guard army, but only as a single squad I would say, with a specific purpose. Necromunda is home to many deadly critters that have been bound to the will of the Outland Beastmasters. With practices passed down across generations, these curious folk command their monstrous beasties in combat while working for the highest bidder. How you meaningfully communicate with a Millisaur is anyone’s guess, but with this set of three resin models you’ll be able to add them to your gang and take advantage of their talent for burrowing. This allows for some real tactical flexibility, as you are not (as you would be for the Orbital Assault Rite of War) pidgeon-holed (raven-holed?) into selecting all Drop Pods or none. If you run this Rite, make use of this, and remember Deathstorms are really quite good after the FAQ. I would say a Plasma Support Squad in a Drop Pod has an easy place in this sort of list! The Salamanders are a Legion of fiery guardians, warriors from the burning world of Nocturne who protect humanity to their very last breath. The XVIII Legion uses the firedrakes that roam Nocturne as their symbol, decorating their armour with flame and scale motifs. These courageous warrior-smiths treat their wargear with utmost respect, salvaging and reforging components from older armour into custom suits that are stronger than ever. Salamanders MKII Shoulder Pads: January 6th, 2022 Ave Dominus Nox! The Night Lords are a twisted Legion, using terror tactics to instill fear and undermine enemy morale. The Legion icon is a sinister skull surrounded by spread bat wings, a common motif among the VIII Legion. Night Lords MKIII Shoulder Pads: November 11th, 2022 The Raven Guard come from the moon Deliverance, they were the XIX Legion from the original Space Marine Legions. They barely survived the outbreak of the Horus Heresy and had to live through horrifically extreme conditions to make it this far, this has made them into a deadly and ruthless legion that will stop at nothing, even death, to win a battle._x000D_ Each one comprises a resin torso and and head marked out with the heraldry of the Salamanders, the Ultramarines, the Word Bearers, the Alpha Legion, the Raven Guard, and the Thousand Sons. Despoiler Squad Upgrade Set As the Night Haunter undoubtedly said more than once, release the bats! You’ll go bats in the belfry with this set of 11 resin heads for your MKVI Space Marines, 10 of whom sport skeletal beaks, with one additional bare head (high, tight, and debonair!) Night Lords MKVI Shoulder Pads: November 25th, 2022

The XIX participated in the Unification Wars, earning themselves a string of victories and a reputation for “cold, ruthless efficiency” , using small battle groups to strike fast, and decapitate the foe. When the Great Crusade began, the XIX found themselves operating frequently alongside the Luna Wolves – with Horus using the “blade of the XIX” to augment his own forces. This went so far as to cause some to say that “Horus treated the XIX more like a chapter of his own Legion than one with its own identity and destiny to forge.” Although the Raven Guard are a First Founding Chapter, like several notable chapters from that founding they wouldn’t receive their first mentions in the fluff until the release of second edition, first appearing in White Dwarf #166 ahead of the release of the 2nd edition boxed set for Warhammer 40,000 when all of the First Founding chapters were finally named. This led to some interesting quirks where Crimson Fists and Raptors existed before their own founding chapters. And while Raven Guard and their Primarch Corax finally received mention in the 2nd edition release of 40k, they wouldn’t receive rules until almost a decade later in December 2002, when they finally saw rules in their own Index Astartes article in White Dwarf #276. These would essentially be replaced by the 4th edition Space Marines Codex, which released with a model for the Raven Guard’s Captain of the Third Company, Kayvaan Shrike. This latter rule gives you the ability to take Drop Pods for Tactical Squads, Veteran Tactical Squads, Tactical Support Squads, Seeker Squads and Heavy Support Squads (provided they can fit in them), and you can take Deathstorm Drop Pods as Elites as well as Heavy Support. Without a Primarch it was, of course, difficult for the Raven Guard to become their own force. They kept a strong bond with their Terran roots, applying war paint of Asiatic dust and keeping grey armour, as opposed to any brighter heraldry. Their proto-cognomen of the “Pale Nomads” or the “Dust Clad” was well-earned, in this regard. Also coming soon is a set of Mark VI shoulder pads for Dark Angels. The embossed Legion symbol on these pauldrons is perfect for ensuring your fully-painted sons of the Lion stand out in the heat of battle. Now they can proudly stand beside Madruk Sedras and his massive sword.I do not paint one color to completion like some folk do, but instead I paint in “like layers” because I am not good or steady enough to not splatter paint all over my finished highlights. It goes like this:

In plastic, there’s the Primaris Company Champion and the Blood Angels Captain in Terminator Armour. In resin are Brother Corbulo, Chapter Master Pedro Kantor, Chapter Master Gariel Seth, Flesh Tearers Shoulder Pads, Darnath Lysander, Dark Angels Company Master, Captain Sicarius, Sergeant Chronus, and Sergeant Telion. In resin, with plastic parts are Captain Tycho, Chaplain Cassius, and the Tyrannic War Veterans. And finally, in metal and plastic is the White Scars Khan on Bike. This set of 11 resin heads from Forge World contains five unique designs which will fit the new plastic Mark VI Tactical Squads. There are three sets of three crested helms for the rank-and-file, plus one slightly more ostentatious one for a squad leader, and a leering bare head replete with Butcher’s Nails. World Eaters MKVI Shoulder Pads: The World Eaters’ legion insignia makes it very clear what they’re all about, so equip their advanced MkIV power armour with 10 resin shoulder pads to let your opponent know exactly what’s in store for them. This upgrade kit comprises 11 resin components and is designed to be assembled with the MKVI Tactical Squad set, which is sold separately. Blood Angels MKVI Heads: October 28th, 2022 I use Citadel paints and I do not own an airbrush, so get ready to make fun of me or whatever. Prime
