I was a bit dubious going into it considering I don't know a huge amount of Greek heroes, but the stories were told in such a funny and engaging way that it didn't really matter that I didn't know the heroes. The Demigod Files is a collection published by Hyperion on February 10, 2009, written entirely by Riordan.

A very nice companion book that allows a deeper look into the world of Greek mythology that might just spark enough curiosity in the reader(s) to prompt them to check out further books on the subject. We’re going back about four thousand years to decapitate monsters, save some kingdoms, shoot a few gods in the butt, raid the Underworld, and steal loot from evil people. The third series, The Trials of Apollo, follows the now-mortal god Apollo, with appearances by many characters from the first and second series. It features Jason Grace, Piper McLean, Leo Valdez, Hazel Levesque, Frank Zhang, and Nico di Angelo as they continue to set sail towards Greece with the rescue of Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase, both of whom have fallen to Tartarus in the previous book's epilogue, in mind; the latter couple in turn also try to find their own way out of the hellish realm.It takes a demigod to know, and Percy Jackson can fill you in on the all the challenging deeds of Perseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, and whatever remains of the real Greek legends. Percy Jackson and the Singer of Apollo is a short story appearing in the Guys Read anthology Other Worlds. Sometimes I forget how funny these books are, Hercules' story made me laugh my ass off at 3 in the morning but that's Percy Jackson for you. This book tells of the Greek heroes and the monsters they slew or tasks they had to accomplish (which often also included solving riddles). The main contents are four stories: "The Diary of Luke Castellan", "Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes", "Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford" and, by Haley Riordan, "Son of Magic".

Knowing about Greek heroes from Percy's perspective with that funny narration were definitely something new in retelling the history or myths. Three short stories have been published which join The Kane Chronicles and the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles; Camp Half-Blood characters have also appeared in both the Magnus and Kane books. The book features transcripts, interviews, and a short story about the video and the campers who are watching it.
