Description

This is Wilson’s entry-level ball and is one of the best golf balls for average golfers. Out of all the balls I’ve tested over the years, this one was one of the most forgiving, which means it finds the fairway. The rubberized core in the Wilson Duo offers a super-low compression rate of 29 making it ideal for swing speeds below 85 mph. The “study” really panned the Chrome Soft and also basically said slow is soft and soft is slow which, initially I thought seemed odd but not being a math guy I decided to do my own experiment last year and played alternate soft ( super soft, Wilson Fifty, Wilson Duo etc ) and hard ( Pro V, Srixon Z Star and TP5 ) same course, same gear same me and guess what? For me soft flew just as far while the premiums did work better on short game – likely due to cover – so for me the whole slow is soft was nonsense.

I also was reminded of why I gravitated toward other balls, particularly the three piece Volvik Vivid. In mid summer, when my game has peaked after a winter’s layoff, I am swinging faster, and start looking for a three piece ball that can offer a little more touch and spin from a hundred yards in. Why would you take a chance on any ball that (as MGS has proven in the March 2019 ball test) doesn’t have the performance characteristics of a consistently good ball? Plus at 77 years old, why would you hit a ball that launches low and doesn’t have the speed you would need to hit the ball far? The compression rating of 38 places the Supersoft in the lower spectrum of softness but still harder than the Wilson Duo. Features / Specification Wilson Duo If you’re shooting above 90: The best Wilson ball for you will most likely be the Duo Soft+. Even to this day, it’s one of my favorite balls. Nothing fancy, but it finds the fairway.First, I would stop listening to anyone who said that kind of thing. It makes zero sense. If you like soft feel, why wouldn’t you want it in all weather? The purpose of a soft feel golf ball is to reduce the spin rate while still offering you a soft feeling on and around the green. Not only that, but because it spins much less it will also allow average golfers to find more fairways as it won't deviate as much with side spin from hooks or slices. So basically, it’s straighter and longer, but only if you aren’t a highly accomplished player. The compression numbers suggest a ball that’s not particularly well suited for higher swing-speed golfers (it will cost you speed). Seniors and other slower swing-speed players with a feel preference may be willing to overlook the speed penalty. This is especially reasonable for slower swing-speed players who might benefit from the low-spin characteristics. Wilson DUO Soft+ – Weight and Diameter

Although both the Supersoft and the Duo provide a relatively soft feel off the clubface, it does not generate the spin of a premium high spin golf ball and therefore they are less likely to stop on the second hop. You may find that these balls feel soft but offer less control resulting in more rollout on the green. The Wilson DUO Soft+ is the latest version of Wilson’s trend-setting super soft golf ball. Softest ball in golf. Strong ball speed for the recreational player. Lower spin throughout the bag. It is important to point out here that this does not impact on performance at all but visually it will be off-putting to some golfers. You don’t expect a brand new shiny golf ball that you’ve only played two holes with to look like one that has been lying in a muddy ditch for six months. The new Wilson Staff golf balls – DUO Soft, DUO Soft Optix, and DUO Soft Spin – feel unlike any other golf ball. Solid performance and fun color options. Introduction You should consider reaching out to OnCore Golf and testing their range of balls. I tested their different models in a swing simulator over last winter, and found the ball that I liked most (due to feel and accuracy). I started using them full-time this past season, and won my first tournament on the Golf Channel Am Tour. If you’re open to the idea of trying new equipment, and haven’t succumb to the peer pressure that “.. all the COOL KIDS use ProV1’s”, you’ll be surprised with their product.
