Poltergeist 4K Blu-ray delivers stunningly beautiful video and superb audio in this excellent Blu-ray release Additional audio options include French, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain), and Spanish (Latin America) 2.0 Dolby Digital. Subtitle options include English SDH, French, German SDH, Italian SDH, Spanish (Spain), Dutch, Spanish (Latin America), Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish. When viewing the studio's promotional trailer for the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release, please make sure to set resolution to 2160p/4K. This two-disc release ships in a standard keepcase with...uh... different cover artwork, a matching slipcover, and a Digital Copy redemption I wish it would include the deleted "I hate Pizza Hut" footage, so we didn't have to suffer the horrible jump cut anymore. I doubt that Pizza Hut would care anymore.

So, Poltergeist ends up being much more than a mere horror-sampler for teens to break into the genre with. It possesses a wonderful “spiritual” ambience, a daring flare for visual invention, a staggering level of visceral intensity and a true sense of the fantastique. The disc presents a native 3840 x 2160p resolution image, in the widescreen 2.39:1 aspect ratio, using 10-bit video depth, High Dynamic Range (HDR), a Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) and is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec for HDR10. Also today, Stephen has taken a look at Anthony Mann’s The Naked Spur (1953) on Blu-ray from MGM via the Warner Archive Collection. They Are Here: The Real World of the Poltergeists (2 parts, 31:00 total) - Carried over from the 2008 Blu-ray (and what Though there have been reams of discussion on who the real author of 'Poltergeist' is -- Spielberg or Hooper -- it's clear that thematically, this is Spielberg's show all the way. It displays in spades his penchant for generalized spirituality without overt religious allusion. Nowhere is this more clearly defined than in what may be the film's thematic centerpiece, when Straight explains to Diane and son Robbie Freeling (Oliver Robbins) the nature of "the other side." Rather than some sort of apocalyptic judgment day, Spielberg's afterlife comes off as a sort of heavenly paradise whose only requirement for entrance is that you die. There is no Christian fundamentalism or gooey new-agey gobbledygook at work in Spielberg's intentions -- just an all-encompassing, admirable wish-fulfillment fantasy in which a wondrous world of pure love awaits us on the other side. they'll immediately strike viewers as impressive, especially on an OLED or even LCD screen with reliable local dimming. retained but improved is good news for everyone -- another feather in WB's cap, as they're not usually known for this. They Are Here was originally produced for the 2007 Warner Bros. DVD. It combines interviews with various experts on the paranormal with clips from Poltergeist. They try to connect their beliefs about the supernatural to events in the film, which doesn’t exactly support their case. As documentaries go, it’s about as persuasive as the average Shark Week program on Discovery. If those programs have managed to convince you that megalodon are still alive and well in the oceans today, then this may be the show for you. The Making of Poltergeist is a vintage promotional featurette from 1982. Like most such EPK material, there’s little substance to it, though it does show some behind-the-scenes footage that provides a tantalizing glimpse of the rotating room in action. The fact that it focuses entirely on Steven Spielberg might add fuel to the fire for those who support the ghost directing theory, but it’s worth pointing out that it was directed by Frank Marshall, who could hardly be considered an unbiased source. The reality is that the success of Poltergeist can’t be attributed to any one person. Film is a collaborative medium, and neither Spielberg or Hooper could have created it alone. It took a legion of talented artists including co-writers Michael Grais and Mark Victor; co-producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall; cinematographer Matthew F. Leonetti; editor Michael Kahn; visual effects supervisor Richard Edlund (as well as his own legions of supporting crew); and myriad others. Jerry Goldsmith also contributed one of his finest scores (even though calling it “one of his finest” doesn’t really narrow things down very much, as that could be said of nearly half of the scores that he wrote). It took a village to make Poltergeist work, and Spielberg tends to get too much deference simply because his name is the most recognizable one in the credits. The second point is that some people have reported issues with the disc freezing for them at approximately 13:50. There’s no consistency regarding the players that seem to be having the issue—for example, some people have had the problem using an Oppo UDP-203, while others haven’t. (For the record, it played fine for me on an Oppo UDP-205, which is mechanically identical to the 203.) Strangely enough, it hasn’t always occurred consistently, as some users have reported that it played fine the first time, but then froze every time after that. It may not affect your specific player, but it’s something to keep in mind.

and forceful in key areas but with a similar overall aesthetic and volume level. I'm normally not a huge fan of remixes but this is one of the better ones, Kleine Auffälligkeit am Rande: Rauchende und kiffende Eltern als Mitglieder einer US-amerikanischen Bilderbuchfamilie? Poltergeist was shot on 35mm film using Ultracam 35 cameras and has received a 4K scan and clean-up forming a new 4K DI, from which this UHD is sourced.

Warner upgrades 'Poltergeist's audio to Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (48kHz/16-bit), and it's a nice little remix. The film still doesn't truly overwhelm our aural senses, but it certainly sounds good for a 1982 film. very nice glimpse behind the scenes of the film with comments from writer-producer Steven Spielberg, producer Frank Marshall (who actually WCG and HDR give a natural boost to the colours without losing the original cinematic intent; flesh tones are natural, greens are lush, reds are bold, and blues cool. Lighting, so important in the atmosphere, is well captured, giving intensity and vividness to the scenes, without encroaching or bloom.
