Description

Thoroughly satisfying horror (and part of a new series) involving creepy dolls and set in motion by an ouija board session. We have twisted little possessed dolls, a child who wants to cut out her own bones, and a mysterious death that is both tragic and concerning from the start — and it all takes place in an immensely atmospheric old manor overlooking a seaside cliff. And this is where I found that the setting would continue to play as big a part in the tense dread, that pervades every aspect of this book, as the plot line.

Then Jemima receives a box of Frozen Charlotte dolls from a mystery sender and she begins to remember – a seance with the dolls, a violent argument with her step-father and the inferno that destroyed their home. Alex Bell has published bestselling novels and short stories for both adults and young adults including Frozen Charlotte, a Zoella Book Club pick. Zoella Book Club pick Frozen Charlotte is a creepy and suspenseful horror story based in an old boarding school on the Isle of Skye. The family live in a remote location, up in an old school-house on the cliffs (which locals believe has been the site of several other suspicious accidents, besides Rebecca Craig’s, in its time), and they don’t seem to have much contact with other people besides one another.

Lilias was another character I liked her fear of bones was actually kind of cool and totally different which made this book so creepy at first I was like I don’t like her but her fear of bones is actually very realistic and she could claim that someone followed Sophie over to her cousin’s house and well that is actually realistic as people could claim that they are able to see ghosts and well some people might say ghosts don’t exist I’m not going to claim that they are wrong. Little did they know what they were about to unleash and in some very frightening first opening scenes I knew exactly what I was in for during this book, or at least I thought I did. It’s great to see a new generation of Fedora stepping up to the plate and drawing attention to material many will be unaware of. As everything begins to fall apart around her, Sophia is left to figure out who or what is causing all the chaos before it's too late.

And ohhhh boy, the world of boring stupid female protagonists and brooding hot guys is larger than I realised. As she has a lot more experience than I do in this genre, I have asked her to review this for Fedora. I don't get scared or spooked, but this book definitely was something that had me uneasy throughout. He hasn’t been the same since … well… Our family has had its share of troubles, as I’m sure you know.
