A book that he finished on his own instead of the fifteen pages a night clip he is obligated to read. I think the reason I didn't completely love this has a lot to do with the fact that it was written in verse. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Reynolds' decision to leave the story open-ended is a stylistic choice that allows the reader to evaluate all the facts given and interpret what they believe the final outcome will be.

My only issue is that I struggled with the plot of this book a bit because I'm not a fan of books that require the suspension of disbelief, and this straddled that line throughout its duration. We’ve suggested some books that can help those going through tough times, and which are also excellent reads for everyone.Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned.

In Long Way Down, the main character Will has just lost his older brother, Shawn, who was shot and killed. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. He also reveals that when he was in a similar situation years ago and tried to take revenge, he killed the wrong person, but still furthered the cycle of violence. The ending is ambiguous after Shawn's ghost breaks rule one by weeping in the elevator, then steps off the elevator and asks if Will is coming.

Will describes the "rules" in his neighborhood, where violence is the norm: no crying, no snitching, seek revenge. Books can help teenagers to process sad feelings, especially when they find it hard to talk to adults.

A haunting cautionary tale delivered in verse, in which fifteen-year-old Will is forced to consider the potential consequences of his actions as he, armed with a gun and seeking revenge, waits for the elevator in his building to reach the ground floor. The book received starred reviews from Booklist, [7] Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, [8] Horn Book, [9] Kirkus, [5] Publishers Weekly, [10] and School Library Journal, [11] as well as positive reviews from Shelf Awareness. Uncle Mark tries to walk Will through his plan step-by-step and Will finds he can't get past the part where he pulls out the gun. He is on faculty at Lesley University, for the Writing for Young People MFA Program and lives in Washington, DC.Speaking of the moment, he said he and his friends felt "an anger, a pain, like a cancer metastasizing by the second, spreading around [them] and through [them]. Not saying that I don't appreciate it, I certainly do, but personally, I'm not able to enjoy it to the full extent I should. From Nobel Laureates Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter to theatre greats Tom Stoppard and Alan Bennett to rising stars Polly Stenham and Florian Zeller, Faber Drama presents the very best theatre has to offer.
