Description

The mid-bass unit uses impregnated coated paper diaphragm and rubber suspension. The coating comes with damping and provides more rigidity, reducing undesirable resonance and achieving accurate and fast sound reproduction. If my room was larger and/or had more soft furnishing, I'd look at the 3030i and if it was properly bigger I'd give the 3050i a try.

The product reviewed this time is the 3020i bookshelf speaker, the latest product in the 3000i series. The 3000 series was launched in 2015 and is positioned in Hi-Fi and home theaters. The 3000i is an updated model of this series. The 3020i is the modest model in the bookshelf speakers series and uses the same 5-inch size mid-woofer. The 3000i series has three bookshelf speakers, one floor-standing speaker, one center speaker, and one subwoofer. The whole is a complete home theater system. The Q 3020i builds on the success of its multi award winning predecessor. Boasting 125mm (5 in) and 22mm (0.9 in) precision drivers, the Q 3020i speakers deliver deep bass and room-filling sound. The Q 3020i maintain the same acoustically optimal front profile but have been made slightly taller and deeper giving an overall cabinet size increase of 25%. This increased internal volume has enabled the Q 3020i to gain an extended low frequency response from the ported design so that more-than-ever the smaller enclosures in the range belie their diminutive stature with an impressively large-scale sound. During the Q-Acoustics 3020i bookshelf speaker performance test, I used a pair of QED speaker cables. Q-Acoustics recommends using QED cables as the speaker cable connection, writing on tags handing directly on the speaker terminals. You can guess that these two brands must have a very close cooperative relationship. In fact, these two brands are now under the same cooperation group- Armour Home Electronics. The audio engineers at Q Acoustics have already proved themselves in the bookshelf speaker arena. The smaller 3010i’s wowed us last year and the 3020i take everything that made them great and turn it up to 11 – except for the price. If you’re looking for great sound on the cheap, you’re in the right place. You can see the weave pattern and the spherical shape around a ring similar to the suspension design for the treble diaphragm, but the material is the same as the diaphragm itself. Further out, there is a shallow horn design, which can help the high pitch spread. The outermost ring is a metal frame and printed with the words “high frequency de-coupler.” The QED Cables

We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. Any additional work to the kitchen units or carpentry work required will need to be completed at the customer’s expense. I began by playing the vinyl version of Morgana King’s Like a Seed from her Paramount LP New Beginnings, released in 1973, a sort of jazzy, funky and rather earnest ditty displaying remnants of the hippy dream, still dangling its legs in the waters of Aquarius. In fact, the 3030i may look a lot like the 3020i, but it borrows more from the tower sibling, the 3050i. Q Acoustics says it’s based the all-new woofer from the design used on the tower model, but used an ‘optimized’ motor to reach surprisingly low for a budget standmount without sacrificing too much efficiency. The overall design of the Q-Acoustics 3020i speaker is very reasonable. When you try to reduce the cabinet resonance, you can make it louder. When the tweeter is not affected by the vibration of the lower mid-bass monomer, it can also make louder sounds. Therefore, I can turn it on loudly and maintain clarity. I do not feel that the clarity of the sound will be significantly reduced due to the increasing volume. To begin, there is a slight sweetness in the midrange from the 3020i and a smooth aspect which gives the impression of the music flowing with zero friction. The rhythms just ease by like a lazy river on a Summer’s day. It’s quite mesmeric. That said, there are stark similarities between the mid/bass unit on the 3050i and the new 3030i. This 165mm unit features a new motor with aluminium windings covered in copper and has been tweaked for a stand-mounting speaker unit.
