Description

I think that this is a Greta masculine oriental, with classic masculine vibes but yet, modern and, specially, very unique. In the beginning, there was "Opium EDP", "Opium pour Homme EDP", "Opium Parfum" and "Opium pour Homme EDT". While we strive to provide accurate and helpful information, we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy or reliability of the AI-generated pros and cons.

Envy is listed as an Amber Woody fragrance, but could easily be categorized as an Amber Spicy (with more prominent woods). Tailored by an artist's hand, it expires through all its pores luxury, maturity, managing at the same time to be chic, seductive and to create addiction. After that disaster, all that chaos fades into a somewhat nice vanilla but it still tries to cling a bit to that wretched opening with the occasional whiff of gross mixed with vanilla.PE M has this black liquorice nuance that can turn into "black permanent marker" odor, occasionally. It was horrible on him, like Angel purged of all its sweet, delicious sugary cream decadent confections and luscious fruits as we know and now replaced with saccharin overload - even a steviol of sorts. Have a bottle (90% used) for sale if anyone interested, smells too dense/sharp and the star anise is a bit overpowering for my taste. For example yesterday morning i had one squirt to the chest of Valentino Uomo Absolu and 2 squirts of Opium around the same area.

More sweet and enveloping and ultra long-lasting (specially the older version in that great blue bottle) but less fresh.Yves Saint Laurent is a symbol of uniqueness, creativity and luxury, both in fashion and the world of cosmetics and perfumes. A differenza di Opium classico da donna, questo è freddo, inizialmente fruttato, piccante,ma resta sempre freddo.

I think I like Gucci Envy for Men a bit more than Opium Pour Homme due to the "plasticky" balsom in Opium, and also maybe due to Envy having lavender (I'm a Fougere fan too). I own both versions but the original is just smooooooothe from beginning to end, whereas the newer version, whilst still fantastic, does open up with the anise note being a bit spiky but then calms down and purrs along, just like it’s older brother. The ginger and pepper notes come forward in around 20-30 min after this cools off and After about an hour it keeps a tiny some of of this edge, but the cedary woody notes come forward a lot more. but the thick, dreamy, and decadent sweetness (akin to Obsession for Men which I love) is pretty over-the-top. The bottom notes propose very strong and pungent bourbon vanilla accentuated by the warmth of the ambary tolu balsam note and the cedar woody note.YSL Opium is better suited for the gentlemen over 40 or 50, but definitely not for the younger crowd. Fresh spice notes begin to appear shortly after, from which springs forth a warmer, more resinous note.

Also I'm 31 and have been wearing this since I was 25, it's certainly not an old man smell but a classic. As an independent fragrance to someone who didn't know vintage then it may well be a very enjoyable fragrance for them. The bottle doesn't tell the story of this well balanced oriental spicey masterpiece from yesteryear. To me this perfume smells extremely sexy, I love wearing this for everyday, but due to poor availability I have to keep it for special ocasions. I remember it in the 90's/ 00's and it to me was a finely crafted delicately spicy fragrance - albeit too spicy and warm for me.
