It’s not inexpensive, but the quality is first-rate and utility is unmatched to any headlamp I have ever used. Note: The measurements and data collected, having been made with instruments and environmental conditions different from those carried out by the parent company, can be dissimilar. The included cell is the NL1835HP, which I’ve previously discovered is usually an LG MJ1 or a Sanyo GA cell with a protection circuit grafted to it – these are both very good cells, and have a capacity of 3500mAh. The LED light beneath the power switch doubles as a charging status indicator and battery power indicator.

When the light is off, a long press of the power button engages turbo mode which turns both the wide and narrow beam LEDs for 60 seconds. As such the head torch is a practical accessory during maintenance tasks, while camping or as a companion during an adventurous holiday. It’s fantastic for peeking into the tiny cracks where wayward bolts try to hide, and far more practical when trying to hold a part in place with one hand, starting the bolt with the other hand, and holding the flashlight with my teeth!I can't comment yet on on the torch itself because my friend has not brought it back from HK until next week. The HC68 comes with a 3500mAh 18650 protected Nitecore battery, that can be charged with the built in USB C port on the Headlamp body. With a 180° adjustable mount, the headlamp can be angled as appropriate and the breathable headband and rubber pad provide support and comfort.

These threads are fairly fine and quite long (it takes a lot of twisting to remove this tailcap), but because they’re anodized (and lubed), they’re very smooth. This makes the HC68 an ideal headlamp for camping, running, trekking, biking, or any professional work such as industrial maintenance, security, or patrol. The Nitecore HC68 Flashlight headlamp has a maximum output of 2000 lumens from the 2 x Luminus SST-40-W LEDs and is powered by 1 x high drain 18650 li-ion battery. Its adjustable headband comes with a silicone grip strip, and a secure rubber pad, which allows you to comfortably wear it for a prolonged time. When worn in the normal way on a headband – that is with these plus/minus e-switches on the TOP, the “tail” switch is on the right-hand side of the light. Bought this as a gift for a naturalist to help them identify some species of lichens and moths so I can't comment on actual use. Its 150° degree truevision wide angle flood beam covers your entire field of vision and the 180° vertical pivot provides you the ultimate control. There’s still solid feedback from the buttons though, so it’s more in comparison to the power button’s feel.

I also hope that Nitecore will add an option to quickly tighten the headband to make sure it is easier to attach. All modes tested were above their rated specs, except for Turbo – but we’re talking a matter of 100 candela, or just over 1m difference between 8500 and 8600 cd. I also don’t see much point in doing throw measurements at the lower levels, so I’ll be doing it on Mid, High, and Higher on both 100% flood and 100% spot, as well as Turbo. In addition, you can infinitely mix or switch two LED lights (flood and spot) by holding the plus or minus button. The way the USB-C is protected is really well engineered and executed: a bit less easy to access compared to the classic USB rubber port, but definitely sturdier and more robust, both in terms of water resistance and of long-term longevity.Very long threads, so unscrewing the tailcap or revealing the charging port takes a lot of twisting. The charging feature suits us well as the torch is always kept in a handy place and always charged up and ready to use. As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, my sphere doesn’t seem to play nicely with very floody lights, but the curves between spot and flood look mostly the same – but this time it seems to be fairly accurate, which is nice.

I imagine this light would appeal most to campers and backpackers that need to have their hands free, but for me, the greatest appeal is when working on cars. The Nitecore HC68 headlamp accepts rechargeable 18650 batteries (except for flat-top cells), but can accept a pair of CR123 batteries if needed. As a versatile 21700 L-shaped headlamp, the HC35 has a CNC machined unibody design featuring lightweight, solidity and excellent heat dissipation. There are clear cutouts for the red emitters, so they’re pure flood, but that’s the right thing for these aux emitters. Hold down the (+) button for stepless adjustment up to 1800 lumen piercing spotlight or hold down the (-) button for a wide beam up to a 1400 lumen floodlight.

I have had a couple of accidental activations by storing it in a jacket pocket so just beware the button protrudes slightly. Note that I don’t have anything that directly compares with this – most of my headlamps are right-angle, and the only other “T” shaped headlamp I have is the Acebeam H40, even though that’s an AA/14500 light. It is available for instant access to the red light while it is designed with a wide voltage range, compatible with various AA batteries.
