Prominent higher-ups in the Circle begin to die, one right after the other. And Ryan is next on the list.

Grey Street and Grainger Town – The area known as ‘Grainger Town’ is the historic heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, containing some of its finest buildings and streets. Grey Street is one of several streets built by Richard Grainger between 1824 and 1841 and has been described by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner as, ‘one of the finest streets in England’. Other places of note here are Grainger Market, Theatre Royal, Grainger Street, Clayton. This is a fast paced crime thriller set in the North East of England. The plot is believable and the characters come alive in this setting.

I really enjoyed both Holy Island, and Sycamore Gap (the first two books in the DCI Ryan series) by LJ Ross. I've been counting down the days for the release of the audio version of Heavenfield since it's hard copy release in February. I was not disappointed! Firstly, I enjoyed the story and felt that it added to the overall narrative of the series, being a full story in its own right (although I think listening to the first two books first will help you enjoy the book better) as well developing the plot, leaving me wanting to hear more (can't wait for Angel, the next in the series). There are moments of real tension, where you know that something is about to happen and you wonder just how Ryan and the team will overcome it. There are also more subtle moments which creep up on you. The narrative moves between Ryan and his team, to members of the ‘Circle’, but does so smoothly. And we revisit some characters who we have met before, adding an interesting dimension to the text.

Walk along the river and look up at that much photographed view of the Cathedral. Visit Durham’s indoor market and meander through its stalls and then pop into one of the city’s fabulous eateries. Begalo įtraukianti ir kaip visada veiksmo kupina istorija 👌 Tai išties lengvas detektyvas, kuris savo paprastumu labai įtraukia, nes autorė begalo įdomiai aprašinėja istorines salos vietas ir pagonių kulto tradicijas. Kiekviena knyga man didelis malonumas skaityti 😍 Tikrai džiaugiuosi atradusi šią seriją, nes neabejoju, kad su kiekviena knyga bus tik įdomiau 👌 Jeigu ieškai įtraukiančio detektyvo, tada rekomenduoju susipažinti su Rajenu 🤗

Spottee’s Cave – Spottee was a foreign sailor who was stranded in Sunderland and lived in the cave. His name came from the spotted shirt he wore, and he was regarded as a lunatic by locals, partly because he did not speak English. He subsisted by scavenging along the coast, begging, and doing manual work. According to the legend, he disappeared into the cave never to be seen again and was regarded by children as a ‘boggle’ (a bogey man or ghost). Louise was born in Northumberland, England. And reading this author's books I always end up on Google as I feel the need to see the places mentioned, and every time, I realise that the online pictures are a mirror image of what I had imagined while reading the book. This shows the author's ability of vividly describing and bringing to life places and sceneries. This time I searched information about Heavenfield church and Bamburgh castle as these are the two focal points in this book. DCI Ryan is on administrative leave after the events of the last case. DCS Gregson is bound and determined to see Ryan lose his job over these trumped-up charges. Can he do it? Ryan’s hearing will come up soon, but in the meantime, he’s totally sidelined. When Ryan is discovered at the scene of a murder, with blood on his hands, he becomes the chief suspect in that as well. Well – he’s DCS Gregson’s chief suspect – Ryan’s team knows he isn’t guilty.
