Wonderful creatures, sights, smells and experiences meet him on a journey to where ‘ Ocean Meets Sky’, just as his grandfather promised. I don't like seeing stuff like that in children's books, since many kids absorb a lot of grammar lessons simply by reading. The background color of the dustcover mirrors the sky with its light blue color, twinkling stars, and clouds floating by. The story highlights the importance of cherishing memories of people who have passed, and does this in an uplifting, life-affirming way.

I don't usually rate picture books here, although I read enough of them with my children, but I have had this one on my 'to-read' list for some time so it deserves a formal send-off. But building is hard work, so Finn falls asleep afterwards, and his dreams take him to all sorts of wondrous places. My class of 5 year olds absolutely loved ‘The Barnabus Project’ (and I loved engaging with a story that was emotionally moving) so had to try something else by the Fan Brothers.Finn misses his Grandfather after he has passed away and longs to travel to the fantastical worlds that his Grandpa would tell him about in his stories. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything.

The illustrations were cleverly drawn and it was wonderful to look back and find Grandpa’s treasured possessions , espcially Grandpa’s hat. Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example. In the end, his mother affectionately wakes him up for dinner; though he is never able to reunite with his grandfather in the way he most desires, he is sustained in his bereavement by the power of imagination and the loving presence of his family. Here they follow the story of Finn, a young boy who is missing his (presumably deceased) grandfather. While it is never explicitly stated that Finn's grandfather has passed, and never says that Finn misses him, my son understood. It’s exactly the kind of book I sometimes give as a gift to a friend (of course, after reading it myself, first). the artists imagine not a general, one-size-fits-all afterlife, but one that Finn and his grandfather share--and one that readers will feel privileged to share with them.
