Davenport’s final wake-up call came when he feared he would never see eight-year-old Donovan or two-year-old Gracie Lee again. Since then we’ve grown into the team we are today, I’m so proud of the guys who have helped make the RECOVERy Channel what it is. Here, Guy Griffiths, now living in 'sunny' north Wales and one of the main inspirations for the Salford Star's creation, writes the second part his own personal view of the Government project that devastated communities throughout Central Salford. I’m a thinking man’s fighter now. I’ve always said – when it came to rugby, I could run with the ball and score a try, but I didn’t know the game. Now three years sober, James has turned to meditation and spirituality to help his recovery. As well as supporting several weekly Alcohol Anonymous groups, he is also writing a book, set to be published next summer, in which he will open up about the true story behind his recovery.

Through his social media channels, he broadcasts The Shinny Show Live reaching out to thousands of people worldwide. James 'SHINNy' Davenport has won the Salford Star Award for 2019, for an array of projects ranging from his live social media SHINNy SHOW, to the trailer for a film dealing with addiction and its fall-out. Initially, SHINNy took a light-hearted approach and had used his channel to promote his charity Christmas single Christmas No.1. Soon these broadcasts gained massive popularity. A key feature amidst the promotional work and humour was SHINNy's heart-on-the-sleeve openness when discussing his demons. These conversations became an integral aspect and the shows started to reach out to sufferers of anxiety, depression and addiction.Sponsored by S&P Casuals and Iron Fist, his music is being used as part of the advertising campaign for clothing brand Soul Star, and he is also modelling their autumn/winter range. CHRIS GREEN MAKES NEW SALFORD FILM BASED ON SHINNY’S LIFE AND ADDICTION - Salford Star - with attitude & love xxx Expect plenty of laughs, shared life experiences and music updates. And he even gets passers-by involved. Martin Talbot, Official Charts Company Chief Executive, said: "It only seems yesterday that the NHS Choir got the nod from Justin Bieber in the race for Christmas Number 1 2015 – but it is so exciting that the annual festive race is almost upon us once again. Who will be the leading contender this year will no doubt only become clear as the starting gun is about to be fired. But, one thing is for sure, the race will be fought as enthusiastically as ever. We can’t wait for it to get underway!"

The Griffiths brothers of Higher Broughton are kind of infamous as the only people to be forcefully evicted from their house as part of the Pathfinder 'housing market renewal' project during the first decade of the 21st Century. I say it as it is,” he continued. “But many men especially feel like they can’t talk about their feelings and this needs to change.” I want this film to help others face their demons and overcome their disease of addiction. It’s an illness that affects hundreds-of-thousands of people in the country.

Chris Greenhalgh, the founder of I Love MCR®, said: “What’s not to love about SHINNy? A down-to-earth character who’s not afraid to put his hand up and admit his failures. A man who’s been there, done that, and now faces his demons with an open mind – and he’s not afraid to share his vulnerabilities and mental health with the world. Feeling suicidal, or bereaved by suicide is a very difficult place to be. It can be very emotional, distressing and traumatic. We want to support you if you are bereaved by suicide or concerned that someone you know may be thinking of suicide. We want to help you find what support is available in the boroughs of Greater Manchester and provide national resources that are available to help. Fellow Salfordian Darren Cleary also chalked up a points victory on the Calzaghe undercard, beating Neil Marston 40-37 over four rounds. During the Q and A at the film premiere, the subject of the 'upside of addiction' came to light. SHINNy is certain that an addictive personality can be a huge positive, if channelled in the right direction. "It [addiction] can manifest itself in other areas. It drives you and boosts the ego." Salford has 7 new coronavirus cases, down from the previous day's 14, while the seven day rate per 100,000 population now stands at 30.1, down from 30.9. There have been no new virus-related deaths announced by Salford Royal Hospital.
