Class plays a central role in the evolution of the characters and Jane Austen's radical approach to class is seen as the plot unfolds. Charles Bingley – a handsome, amiable, wealthy young gentleman from the north of England, who leases Netherfield Park, an estate three miles from Longbourn, with the hopes of purchasing it.

Lydia shows no regard for the moral code of her society; as Ashley Tauchert says, she "feels without reasoning". In the sparkling comedy of manners that follows, Jane Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and superbly evokes the friendships, gossip and snobberies of provincial middle-class life. In 2003 the BBC conducted a poll for the " UK's Best-Loved Book" in which Pride and Prejudice came second, behind The Lord of the Rings. Pride and Prejudice was first published in the United States in August 1832 as Elizabeth Bennet or, Pride and Prejudice. After dinner Jane and her mother ‘ set fairly at it’ and read half of the first volume to her, without telling her that Jane was the author.

She is considered the most beautiful young lady in the neighbourhood and is inclined to see only the good in others (but can be persuaded otherwise on sufficient evidence).Film adaptations of Austen’s works have cropped up since the golden age of Hollywood (not to mention a film inspired by Austen herself). The cleverness of Emma‘s plot cannot be underestimated; there are so many meanders up garden paths that it is very easy for the reader to find themselves hopelessly wrong about the intentions of the characters and shocked at the turn of events. A tour de force of wit and sparkling dialogue, Pride and Prejudice shows how the headstrong Elizabeth Bennet and the aristocratic Mr. The arrival of Mr Bingley, a rich bachelor who rents the neighbouring Netherfield estate, gives her hope that one of her daughters might contract an advantageous marriage, because "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife".
