Finish: As far as aftertaste goes, there’s no contest here. Canadian Club has a short one, and you’ll experience caramel and spice undertones. However, Seagram’s VO has a longer finish, and it’s likely to give you a bitter aftertaste. Some people truly like that because they expect it from whisky, so that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Strength: If we focus on alcohol content, we’ll see that they are both the same. Therefore, you’re getting the same amount of alcohol per volume, regardless of the one you choose. Canadian Club Whisky became famous after it was featured as the drink of choice for Don Draper in Mad Men, a television series. Jon Hamm played the character well, and it’s said that he drinks it to this day. We’ll begin at the beginning with Chronicles Edition 41 Years Old, the inaugural bottling released in 2018. The tagline for this release, Water of Windsor, is a tribute to the birthplace of Canadian Club whisky in Windsor, Ontario. The 100% corn recipe used for the 40-year reportedly makes up most of this whisky’s composition, but there are also unspecified amounts of Cognac, rye, and sherry in the mix (Canadian law allows up to 9.09% of other alcohol-containing liquids to be added to their whisky). When it launched in 2018, it was the oldest Canadian whisky ever. Let’s dive in. The first "Hide A Case" campaign officially ended in 1971. A second was started in 1975, where cases were hidden in places intended to be easier to access, such as in Death Valley and on top of a skyscraper in New York City. This second campaign ended in 1981; between it and the first, 22 cases were hidden and at least 16 recovered. [6]

Hiram Walker founded his distillery in 1858 in Detroit. He first learned how to distill cider vinegar in his grocery store in the 1830s before moving on to whisky and producing his first barrels in 1854. [1] However, with the Prohibition movement gathering momentum and Michigan already becoming "dry," Walker decided to move his distillery across the Detroit River to Windsor, Ontario. [2] From here, he was able to export his whisky and start to develop Walkerville, a model community that Walker financed to provide housing and services for his employees. However, Seagram’s VO has that “whisky” feeling, which is what many people want and expect when they imbibe. The bitter finish was a bit too much for me, and it took a while for it to come up and build. Canadian Club has distinct notes of caramel and vanilla that are complemented by oak wood and hints of spice. It is smooth on the palate but still has enough body and complexity to keep drinkers interested throughout the tasting experience. Launched in Australia in April 2001, Canadian Club Mixed & Ready is a ready-to-drink (RTD) mix consisting of a 4.8% ABV pre-mixed blend of six-year-old Canadian Club with dry ginger ale, cola, or soda and lime. It is sold in 330mL bottles and 375mL cans. All flavours are also available in New Zealand. An Australian advertising campaign to pitch Canadian Club to those who were "over beer" was hugely successful, and launched internationally. [9] 6% ABV "Premium Strength" is available only in 375mL cans and is mixed with dry ginger ale. [10] Limited edition / Discontinued [ edit ]

Canadian Club and The Monkeys won for their entry “How long-term brand building led to the 3 most successful years in Canadian Club history”.

I know I’m not the first to shed light on Canadian Club vs Seagram’s VO, but I guarantee that my review will be the most in-depth you’ve probably ever read. In the 2007 IndyCar Series season, they were main the sponsor for Andretti Green Racing #27 driver, Dario Franchitti during their championship winning season, which also included winning the 2007 Indianapolis 500. Walker's whisky was particularly popular in the late 19th century gentlemen's clubs of the United States and Canada; hence it became known as "Club Whisky." Walker originally positioned the whisky as a premium liquor, pitching it not only on its smoothness and purity but also its five-year oak barrel aging.Mixing Canadian Club with Coke is a great way to get a delicious drink without having to sacrifice flavor or complexity. It provides all the richness and complexity of Canadian Club while also adding a slightly sweet, fizzy touch to your drink. Not only is this way of drinking whiskey smoother and more pleasant, but it’s also perfect for hot weather days. Adding some citrus fruit like lemon or lime takes the flavor to the next level. Because Seagram’s VO takes some time to acclimate to it, you will probably get off the ground faster with Canadian Club. However, if you can give it time and take Seagram’s VO seriously, you’ll likely be rewarded for your patience. This unique blend gives Canadian Whiskey its distinctive taste and aroma. Additionally, Canadian Whiskey is aged for a minimum of three years, which allows it to develop its rich, complex flavor profile. With its versatile taste profile, Canadian Club is perfect for any type of event, whether you’re enjoying a night out with friends or celebrating a special occasion.
