Description

As a rough rule of thumb: you count as one layer of clothing for your baby, and your Izmi counts as at least another. If you’re indoors, or going for a brisk walk and generating some heat, that’s like adding a third layer. Your baby should be held high and snug against your chest, close enough to kiss the top of their head; and with the carrier tightened to prevent them flopping or slumping away from your body. Love the idea of a snugly stretchy wrap, but a bit daunted by the idea of tying? The Caboo has long been a favourite of parents who want a soft stretchy newborn sling, without zero faff. You can also use this to carry newborn twins. It is important to adjust your Izmi tightly around your and your baby to prevent them from slumping, so that their airways are protected. With smaller babies who can?t support and control their own head you can use a carrier as a breastfeeding aid. For most people it is not safe to attempt hands-free breastfeeding with a very small baby; you will still need to use a hand or arm to support your baby?s head when they are feeding. Which carrying position is suitable for my baby with this wrap?

Smaller babies may be comfortably carried in Izmi Carrier beyond 12 months. And if you have a taller/heavier baby, you may want to size up to an Izmi Toddler Carrier sooner, from around 7 months. One crucial point to remember is that you should never let your baby fall asleep in this position. Their airways could be compromised, so it's essential to reposition them upright in the sling after feeding, no matter how tempting it is to leave them snoozing. Always seek advice from your medical practitioner if your babies have health considerations, and seek guidance on babywearing safety from an experienced babywearing consultant if you would like help carrying two babies. You can also book a video consultation with us, wherever you are in the world, for one-to-one support and guidance from our expert team. Clotilde Kingsley says: My little one loves being in a sling especially when feeling unwell or teething. It allows me to get lots done around the house with baby settled in the sling. This sling has a lovely stretch, which makes it easy to wrap without too much laxity, I didn't need to tighten or rewrap it whilst walking outside with it. With other slings I have found that with the weight of baby it can start pulling but he had a lovely position throughout our walk. Would you recommend this product to other parents?

With minimal padding on the shoulders and none at all on the waistband, this combination offers a less bulky (and sweaty) ride than most double-up alternatives. If you’re in the market for two carriers that will do a similar job to the TwinGo, using two MiniMonkey Mini Slings, two Integra baby carriersor two Izmi baby carrierscan work particularly well. So if you’re looking to buy a wrap for a friend or loved one with a newborn, who doesn’t have a local babywearing educator tohelp them, this is a great wrap to go for.

Izmi Baby Wrap comes top of our tried-and-test list. These wraps are high quality, 2-way stretchy wraps: soft, very easy and forgiving to use, but also very strong, slightly wider than most, and very supportive. Now, let's set expectations straight – breastfeeding in a baby wrap or newborn baby carrier is not a completely hands-free endeavour. You'll still need at least one hand to support your baby's head. Once you're comfortably seated, you can switch one arm for a cushion if you like, but if you're on the move – like in a queue at the supermarket – you'll still need one hand on duty. Paula McGir says: I would recommend this product because it is suitable from 5lbs upwards. As a foster carer to babies to do have a lot of premature and tiny babies so this is perfect for me. Its very soft material and once I felt safe enough to take my hands away it was very supportive of baby. (more than I thought it would be). I was a little apprehensive at first as it is so long and looked very complicated to do but the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Easy to fold and store away. It’s billed as suitable from newborn to 12kg (26lbs) each but is really best suited to twins from 2-3 months to 6-8 months. There have been lots of near-identical versions of the Caboo over the years, but this Organic version has the softest and best quality fabric.

The Coracor Baby Wrap is brilliant if you’re after something with a pretty pattern (and the same wrapping qualities as the Izmi Wrap). The Hana Baby Organic Wrap and Boba Wrap can work well, too. The size. Our Toddler Carriers have a wider and slightly taller body panel than our Baby Carriers, so bigger babies (7m+) and toddlers are even better supported - and feel lighter! These wraps are super easy to get the hang of. You might need a few tries to get your wrap tied perfectly, but it’ll soon be easy as tying your shoelaces. It will depend a lot on your anatomy and how you fit together. So depending on the length of your torso, the size of your breasts, and the position of your nipples, all sorts of things will vary. Apart from the body panel size, Izmi Baby and Toddler Carriers are almost identical in fit and style. But we have added a couple of extra features to our Toddler Carriers:

I love using a baby wrap, making it easy to go for walks or hold my baby close to me while I'm doing housework. 5pm seems to be the witching hour in our house, so wearing baby in a wrap at this time means we can all be a bit calmer at the end of the day. This wrap is easy to use and wear, and the price is great compared with other baby slings on the market. Would you recommend this to other parents? For a double hippy carry, you could also try using two MiniMonkey Mini Slings or Izmi baby Carriers, as these can also be used separately and for a tandem carry (see below). ABOUT THE WEEGO TWIN CARRIER Perfect to use from birth (6lbs/2.5kg), super comfy and dreamily soft, these elasticated baby wraps are one-size-fits-all and perfect for both mums and dads. The Caboo + Organic comes in two parts – the first you simply pop over your head like a t-shirt, before adjusting the size using the two sets of rings. Emily Hentley says: I would choose this as it’s so comfy and comes in a great choice of colours. The colours are unisex so would suit a second baby and the wrap would definitely do more than one baby it seems really well made and has lasted well for multiple uses. Over a structured carrier I would choose this due to the connection you get with baby carrying them close. What changes would you make to this product?A sling should always mimic how you carry your baby in your arms: snug and high up on your chest so they’re close enough to kiss.

You can wear babies on your front in the carrier from 10lbs upwards, or as little as 7-8lbsusing the infant insert. The TwinGo has an upper weight limit of 40lb (18kg) if you’re wearing one baby, or a combined weight limit of 70lb (32kg) when used as a tandem carrier. As an alternative to a single twin carrier, some twin parents do wear two Ergobaby carriers, two Tulas, two Manducas and so on. If you’ve already got a couple to hand then give it a whirl! It will likely feel very cumbersome with four padded shoulder straps and two passed waistbands, but it’s not impossible. The safety advice included is sensible, thorough and accessible. It has handy hints for getting a better fit if you are petite or plus size. It focuses throughout on how to tie the wrap tightly, so baby is well supported and their airways are protected. On a budget and deciding between and baby wrap and a carrier? Well, you don’t have to, thanks to the great value Izmi Essential Bundle. Tightening your carrier (usually) or loosening it (sometimes) just a few centimetres here and there can make a vast difference. As can positioning the waistband higher up on your body. The clue is in the name: it’s a WAISTband, not a hip belt. Jessica Molyneux spence says: I would choose the Izmi baby wrap over others because the material is really good quality and supportive. Even for older babies, it still keeps them in place and doesn't stretch which would resulting in them sinking down. This means I don't need to keep taking baby out to readjust, which I have had to do with other brands. I can put it on in the morning and it will still be fine when I've finished wearing it for the day.
