To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. No glorification or graphic detail, just a bit by bit reveal, reflective of the way that Kim herself chooses to remember and manage the trauma in her own mind. But, the body count just keeps piling up, however, unbeknownst to Kim, someone is watching her investigation very closely and if she gets too close to the truth, she could be the next murder victim.

Kim is damaged and her past is fed to us in small doses as the story of her challenge to solve the murders progresses. As more and more bodies are uncovered the book just gets better and better, like a busy train intersection, all the story lines and people in the book come together neatly at the end to give you the conclusion you have been begging for as you read along. You can rest assured of one thing – she is relentless and will not stop until she puts the pieces together. And then towards to end when she breaks into the former children’s home to look for something, All ALONE at night.

I found the atmosphere between them once in their office overseeing the case details was one of true friendship. To be honest, I do find it hard to criticise the character of Kim as I recognise a lot of her traits in myself, and as such, with the way she is portrayed on the page, I have to say she is a truly well developed and observed character indeed. Book Addict Shaun on Play Dead --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. If you're familiar with my review, you know I'm always bitching about that one extra (unnecessary) twist as an attempt to shock the reader. In my case it’s actually less than that as I only read Silent Scream last February, prompted to look the series up after reading an article with Angela Marsons in The Express and Star that showed up on Twitter shortly after she had sold one million copies of her books.

Kim's past also becomes the force behind her unstoppable need to figure out exactly what happened all those years ago. El pasado de Kim y la relación personal con el resto de personajes/miembros de su equipo está presente en el libro, pero el peso del libro es la propia investigación. Kim kicked ass throughout the entirety of the book, and even put herself in danger so that she could grab hold of the missing ends of the string that would eventually tie together into a neat bow above the plot.

I was hooked from the first page and Having read all of KL Slater's previous novels I took the precaution of clearing my afternoon and evening before reading the first page and I'm glad I did as I barely moved from my sofa until I'd reached the end. one of the best crime thrillers I’ve read in a long time, and that includes… authors such as James Patterson! I've read every book by this author and I always end by saying it's my new favourite and this one is no exception. Thank you to Bookouture via Netgalley for providing a digital copy of Silent Scream by Angela Marsons for review. Years later, a headmistress is found strangled, the first in a spate of gruesome murders which shock the Black Country.
