DAB+ digital radio brings you a diverse range of great content in highly-detailed, digital-quality sound; much of which is only available on digital radio. Elan DAB+ automatically finds all available digital stations in your area for an easy listening experience, plus there’s FM radio for any station that has not yet gone digital.

DAB or DAB+ (DAB Plus) radios offer more options for interaction as they can receive text, images or even videos in addition to sound. They were on the shelves when I worked my part time retail job during college around 15 years ago and they were very popular due to their decent build quality and audio performance. And that still holds true today. We’re taking a look at the Pure Elan Connect+ and first impressions are great! An internet radio allows you to receive and listen to an unlimited number of online radio programmes. The Pure Elan Connect’s design is unlikely to catch the eye. While other manufacturers of DAB radios deliver retro designs or opt for post-modern use of wood panels, the Pure Elan Connect’s shell is plastic. On the positive side, this means it’s extremely lightweight at 438g – although the four AA batteries you’ll need to make it portable will increase its bulk. DAB radios are less prone to failure and disturbances while they come with less static noise than FM radios.

The Pure Elan One has some welcome improvements over the Pure One Mi range. A larger full colour screen, a rotary knob for the volume and battery and mains power options are all useful updates. Compared to other budget radios the less shiny plastic finish makes it feel like a more premium product.The Pure Elan Connect+’s 2.4-inch display may be colour, but it isn’t a touchscreen. There’s no app, so it connects to your home’s Wi-Fi network via the WPS button on a Wi-Fi router. Easy if you know what you’re doing – and it worked fine in our test – but this isn’t ideal if you’re gifting this product to someone who may be less tech-savvy.
