If you’re someone who roots for people to be together no matter the obstacles, personality or otherwise, this will probably be just fine for you.

I do wonder, though, if a devastating incident that occurs at a crucial moment of consummation could be construed as a metaphor for that trolling black cloud that often follows young gay men in popular culture. Not much happens except baking and touches and glances, in keeping with romance, for a very long time, but I especially like the food passion in it (there are some food manga series of which this reminded me, Antique Bakery, and so on). While it is a love story between Ari and Hector, it's not a coming-out story so all out the care and attention was on them and their relationship. The romance between Ari and Hector builds slowly, focusing on cute interactions long before progressing to anything physical. There is a tender and heartfelt scene toward the film’s climax where the young protagonist’s father lovingly confesses to his crestfallen son that he knows about his romance and envies the connection and love he feels. Featuring a vibrant rainbow design, and our super-sized Q logo, you won't find a more stylish way to make a statement. I really enjoyed the style and colouring of this graphic novel, it fit really well with the setting in making it feel even more beachy. You’ve got the meet-cute, the miscommunication, the driving passions of each of them, the drama-point, and then the adorable make-up/happily-ever-after.

But I need the two protagonists in the romance who fall in love with each other to both be good people whom I like. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. They bake bread a few times together and get along, but somewhere their friendship makes a really quick jump to romance. I like it that there are few words and so much happens through the visual, not too much talk, perfect for graphic novels, even more perfect for graphic romances. Now that high school is over, Ari is dying to move to the big city with his ultra-hip band, if he can just convince his dad to let him quit their struggling family bakery.

It takes place in the morning, in the bright light of day, and not in some secretive place, at night or in the shadows. Author Panetta’s story is baked to perfection: a crush that turns to infatuation—and later love—in the confines of a professional kitchen bristling with hot stoves, stuffed shelves, and perfectly shaped spanakopita. I do notice that there is a second volume which I hope will expand on their couple dynamic a bit more since I don't feel this book got the chance to really do so, hence it felt a bit rushed and out of nowhere despite the build-up.
