Description

I love a dark, brooding detective, with a big chip on his shoulder. And Jericho fits the bill superbly. Deuteronomy 18:9-12: 9“When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you" (emphasis added). The destroyed people were mercifully removed from their evil lives and will be given opportunity to know and choose God at the second resurrection when the world will know God, and be under the rule of Jesus and his saints. First off Scott Jericho needs his own series. A disgraced detective and a traveller is asked to in investigate a series of abhorrent murders steeped in traveller legend. This is a real workout for the grey matter and I still got it wrong. So many twists and turns. I just had to keep on reading I HAD TO KNOW THE TRUTH!!! Intense, atmospheric with great characters and masterful story telling. A must read and almost five stars. Loved it!!!!!

Moore, Megan Bishop; Kelle, Brad E. (2011). Biblical History and Israel's Past. Eerdmans. ISBN 978-0802862600. Killing Jericho needs to be on every crime fiction fans list, it is written extremely well by William Hussey, you can feel his love and passion for his people (the son of a travelling showman himself) and it is an important book within the travelling community and also the LGQBT+ community, and I really hope that Killing Jericho wins prizes and gets the recognition that is so deserved. I am left bereft now I’ve finished Killing Jericho! I hope we don’t have to wait too long for book two! A stunning and masterful read from a hugely talented author. Scott Jericho has returned to the fairground where he grew up with his family. Since he left, he has been many things – a student, a policeman, a prison inmate – but now the only place that he feels welcome is the fairground. But his past mistakes are haunting him even there – he was sent to prison for assaulting a child-killer, which caused the case against him to collapse, and now that killer is stalking him for some reason – but that is nothing compared to what is to come. Hence we see what at first sight seems to be a barbaric command, but essentially it was necessary to ‘clean up the earth’ (as the flood also did), and also to prevent the ‘seed line’ to the Messiah being ‘born’, by ‘corrupting’ it.

Killing Jericho (William Hussey) – Book Review – Set The Tape

I read this as part of a serialisation on The Pigeonhole. I read the first 50% at the same time as my fellow "Pigeons" and was enjoying it till life got in the way. I binge read the final 50% today, and all I can say is WOW!!With all this in mind, I wanted to love Killing Jericho, but ultimately I found the overwritten pros If you thought Benoit Blanc was your favourite queer detective then you’re absolutely wrong, it is very much Scott Jericho. So do yourself a favour and read this before I have to start gently tapping people round the head with it.. did I say please? No? Okay please read this, thank you very much. You best believe I’ve found myself a new instant buy author! The twist/ending I did not see coming and it did not spoil my enjoyment with it coming out of nowhere (although now finished, hindsight is a marvellous thing 😆). Spoiler: Dramatic licence was indeed well used by the author to allow Scott Jericho to survive his final run in with Kerrigan ahead of the conclusion with the killer. Holy ...! This is good! Do you love superbly written British thrillers? Dark and twisted? With queer rep? The first of a series? Read this!

The clever plot of Scott being brought in by a reclusive academic as a private investigator to investigate the gruesome murders of three individuals, where the killer seems to have a fascination about the Jericho family tragedy over 100 years ago where ancestor, "Slip-Jointed Jericho" and several other members of his "Freakshow" perished. The only person who will be kept alive is Rehab, a prostitute (and anyone else she lives with). This is because she acted as a fifth column for the Israelites and secretly took in the messengers Joshua smuggled into the city: Plot was interesting and the story itself very engaging. A little different from the usual thriller stories, here we have a glimpse to the travellers life, which is just fascinating, how they view people outside from the fairground. The dialogue was English to the bone, with all the slang. However, this is one Old Testament event for which there appears to be no archaeological or textual support, outside of the Bible itself. Indeed, the leading consensus is that Jericho was actually unoccupied at the time of Joshua, following an earlier destructive Egyptian campaign. Bruins, Hendrik J.; van der Plicht, Johannes (1995).
