Never Got to Say Goodbye: River Ripple never got to say goodbye to the cat he loved, Flutter, when she was captured by Twolegs.

The magic and mystery of Riverstar as a unique and slightly eccentric character has been completely wiped away with this book. There's a whole lot more needless love drama I didn't care to read about. A lot of this book (about 50%) is just downright recycled plot elements from Dawn of the Clans but this time from Riverstar's POV. Skystar is still the worst (nothing new there, I suppose). The book feels drawn-out and doesn't really get interesting until past the 50% point when we enter "new" territory with Riverstar going to aid his old parkmates and feeling torn between his homes. Revenge by Proxy: Slash had threatened the park cats that he'd hurt one of their friends if any of them left. He does indeed hurt Dart after Arc goes to get Riverstar's help. My biggest issue concerning this book, though, isn't specifically about this novel but rather about the current direction of bland conformity that the recent Super Editions seem to be taking. Honestly, I'd much rather read a "bad" book that took risks and tried fun things than an "okay" book that didn't. Ear Notch: Dew's ears are noted to be notched with battle scars, and Night stares at them when Dew asks to join the group, clearly questioning whether a rogue experienced with fighting will fit in with their peaceful group. Possibly, the only thing I liked in the series was Night. Her personality and connection with Riverstar was something I'm glad I didn't miss out on. Most of the time, anytime a female cat is with a male, they're suddenly mates. It's Raining Men: River Ripple and the others use this when fighting One Eye, knowing he wouldn't be able to see them hiding in the tree due to the sun being in his eyes.

Ending Slash for good felt satisfying. I loved reading his death and I loved Finch for epically killing him off for good. I also didn't mind Skystar being a secondary villain in this one. It builds on that, then the 2nd half of the book has Riverstar just up and leaves his Clan without solving this to go help cats he has absolutely nothing at all to do with. Just him tho. And all so the writers can do wat they should have done in Dawn of the Clans. Kill Slash and give Riverstar a mate. This feels like a Fanfiction. There are moments when Riverstar seems like someone's OC and they put him in the already-existing story, you know what I mean? I feel like this should have been a novella and not a super edition. It would get boring at certain parts and I felt like I enjoyed the side characters more than Riverstar himself! I felt the trip to his old parkmates camp was pointless and the “development” of him and Finch was nonexistent. It seemed that Slash was gonna be a bigger threat but he's in two chapters then dies. All right that’s about it. Was rather disappointed in this one but it had its moments, and the meditation stuff was really cool. Maybe read if you’re a die hard Warriors fan or are super into RiverClan, but other than that you can give this one a pass.In his bio for The Ultimate Guide: Updated and Expanded Edition, Riverstar is listed with dark gray fur. [41] Alliterative Name: Ripple's new name River Ripple, as well as some of the mountain cats like Turtle Tail. Near and Dear" Baby Naming: Arc Shadow is named after Riverstar's parental figure, Arc. It's also possible though not explicitly stated that Ripple Shine is named after Riverstar himself, since Finch had previously promised to name one after him.
