Lindelof, Damon& Cuse, Carlton, (March 30, 2007) "Official Lost Audio Podcast", ABC. Retrieved on December 30, 2008. Rose and Bernard Nadler are fictional characters on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) television series Lost, played by L. Scott Caldwell and Sam Anderson respectively. Rose and Bernard visit a faith healer on their honeymoon in Australia, in the hope of healing Rose's cancer. When Bernard visits the restroom during the return flight, the plane splits in half, with each half crashing on different parts of an island in the South Pacific. The couple reunite midway through season two, and Rose reveals the Island has healed her. After time traveling in season five, they separate from the remaining survivors and build a cabin near the ocean to live in. The Good - This was a very well researched book, where I felt it almost got too bogged down in detail at times, but since I'm a huge history nerd that didn't bother me. What I liked the most was that these were voices we don't hear from a lot. I think this era of history is even more "important" than the 30's and 40's because this is what sets the stage for all that is to come. So often, (in my opinion), this era is overlooked and I think it's a shame because there are so many wonderful stories to be told.

You meet three very different heroines in Lost Roses: Eliza, Sofya, and Varinka. Who did you identify with most and why?

Lindelof, Damon& Cuse, Carlton, (January 9, 2006) "Official Lost Audio Podcast", ABC. Retrieved on June 29, 2009. Eventually, however, I became invested in Sofya’s quest to find her son and the fate of her husband. I wondered if “Inka” would ever escape Taras’ grasp, even though it meant leaving loved ones behind. I marveled at Eliza’s charitable work; would she also find love again in her personal life? The author weaves a story of danger, a story of friendship, of love, done so well that the characters find their way into you heart and mind. She makes them all come alive, giving authenticity to their feelings, their struggles, and their will to live. This is a story of wealth, a story of a fall from that pedestal that many had experienced before the Communists came to power. It is also a brief look into the lives of the peasants living under the Tsar and how their lives were bitter and oppressive. Russia was ripe for revolution, and when it came, no one living there was ever the same. After time-travelling to 1974, Rose and Bernard lived in peaceful seclusion in a cabin near the beach, refusing to get involved in any kind of conflict. They reemerged briefly to help Desmond before returning to their hut and were some of the last survivors remaining on the island when the series ended.Lost Roses is the second book of the Lilac Girls series, but chronologically is the prequel to Martha Hall Kelly’s The Lilac Girls, a story about the lives of three women during World War II. The connecting thread between these two stories is Eliza Ferriday, a socialite who has travelled to both Paris and St. Petersburg, regularly visiting her close friend Sofya Streshnayva, cousin of the Romanov family. And then the looming troubles and rumours of war erupt into war, making travel there inadvisable, to say the least. In Lost Roses, Eliza’s daughter, Caroline Ferriday, is one of the three women who are the main focus.

Littleton, Cynthia, (May 14, 2009) " "Lost": "The Incident, Parts 1 and 2" -- Take two", Variety. Retrieved on June 15, 2009. Each woman is strong in their own way. The plight of escapees of the revolution taking more than a year to make it to safety, if they live through the trip, is terrifying. The loss of lives on all sides, the hopelessness of the peasants who have been starved and worked to death, there is no winner in this war when oppression is going to continue no matter who wins the war. This is a beautiful but terrifying story made worse by the fact that historical events are true. Thanks to Netgalley, Martha Hall Kelly and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.

She was later seen briefly with Hurley hanging up clothes, when Shannon asked after Walt and Michael's luggage. She commented about how terrible it must be to "lose the one person you love on the Island," implying again that her husband was not dead. (" Abandoned") Eliza, suffering from her own loss, worries for her friend, pouring herself into caring for the Russian refugee women. She yearns for news of Sofya, hoping one of the refugee women would have news of Sofya and her family. Incredibly well-researched (I appreciated the inclusion of Kelly's "Author's Note" and the numerous photos); and,
