In 2006, Shriek Show released a solid version of the film on DVD, but Redemption has done an admirable job with the new release, bringing out the colors beautifully and including a solid interview with Walker conducted by AMERICAN GRINDHOUSE filmmaker Elijah Drenner. Eggar and the rest of the ladies are in fine form, with Griffin’s Patti standing out as a genuinely interesting, charismatic character, and an early sequence with all of the potential actresses gathered around a table talking ranks as one of the best introductory interactions between characters of the films of the time, but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, one character simply vanishes only to show up dead randomly later, and the mask treads a line between frightening and silly that bounces into both arenas often in the same scene. Romero produced such a haul of great horror that it’s a challenge for many fans to reach the bottom.

This edition is terrifying, where you fear not only what lurks in the mist, but what hides within the inky shadows that stain every frame. If that’s not enough, the Blu-ray also includes “Ciupka: A Film-maker in Transition,” a 15 minute documentary on the director shot at the time CURTAINS was being filmed and giving a fascinating look at the Canadian filmmaking scene and the shooting of the film’s dinner table sequence. However, even the most stringent purist's complaints will die down once they see how striking this "alternate version" (as creator David Simon has dubbed it) truly looks.Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at ourwarehouse.

Papier-mâché bagel paperweights, marauding neighborhood watch groups, and a cavalcade of “I know that actor” moments make for a surreal experience, best enjoyed in a quiet room after everyone’s asleep.

Despite some well-directed moments and solid stalking sequences, you never really get the sense of isolation that would seem prerequisite for a slasher film – it always seems too simple for the cast to just, well, leave, and the body and gore count never reaches the point that would seem out of place at the time.
