Description

Compared to the full range of winter hiking gloves we have on test, the Storm gloves from Rab are actually very good value. They were comfortable to wear and the level of warmth they provided was more than adequate. As they are one of the most bulky options on test, the ease with which you can carry out tasks is reduced, but not to an unacceptable level. The synthetic insulation, though, does work when wet. How warm are they? Moderately – not enough to keep you cosy in Arctic conditions. For versatility, choose a generous size, so that when it’s really freezing, you can fit an extra pair of liner gloves inside (see below). (JP) We do not offer to reimburse postage costs if an item doesn't fit / you don't like it / change of mind etc.

The fiddly construction of gloves like this, with waterproof membranes and insulating layers, helps explain their substantial cost. Nevertheless, if you love to spend hours outdoors whatever the weather, it's always worth taking the best pair you can afford. We’re really pleased to have scored Montane Men’s Tornado Gloves so highly, givimg it 9.5 out of 10, making it well above the average for all Christmas Gifts. The Women's specific fit of these gloves ensures you're not left with a bad 'unisex' fit, while a pre-curved design makes gripping tools and ropes as unrestricted as possible. Lastly, touch screen compatible pads on the fingers and thumbs means you won't have to remove your gloves to use your phone or GPS in freezing environments. The fit is without a doubt the most important aspect of a pair of gloves with most good-quality items offering S-XL sizing. The large cuff with toggle offers great coverage, while a compression strap helps you achieve a good fit. While the high loft fleece interior makes the glove a dream to wear, it does make the gloves a bit of a pain to pull on when your hands are cold and damp. Apart from this, the Torres Peak gloves are a worthy investment.

The best winter walking gloves

There’s not much worse than cold hands in the wind and if your gloves aren’t waterproof, you can expect a world of misery.

Another factor that can be a great indication of product quality is the brand. Brands like Montane are of course extremely well known, especially for Christmas Gifts.

Warm hands are good, but sweaty hands? Not so much. To prevent that, some gloves offer breathability to add ventilation. Adjustability features such as these are great for keeping your hands nice and toasty, securing each finger in their own little sauna. Not all gloves come with both, but if you’re looking for a heavy-duty handwarmer, it pays to look for adjustability. Waterproofing Many of the items we sell will come with the full manufacturer's guarantee. SMU, Ex Display and production products are covered under these conditions. Single hand cuff adjustment - leather tab with hook and loop fastening allows cuff to be adjusted with minimal fuss A Gore-Tex inner layer repels water. When dry, the touch-screen sensitive finger tips work efficiently; but they don’t perform so well when wet.

Price – as you’d expect the price of a product can be an instantly recognisable factor on what sort of quality you can expect. Whoever came up with the phrase “you get what you pay for” pretty much hit the nail on the head. Whilst it’s not always the case and there are many bargains to be had, you can as a general rule, expect the higher priced products to offer better quality than a the cheapest option. We’ll dive into the price of Montane Men’s Tornado Gloves in more detail in a moment. If your winter gloves are used for climbing, clambering or gripping walking poles, durability is going to be a focus to get your money’s worth. Look for tough outer fabrics such as leather and pleather, reinforced palms and rolled fingertips for the top durability. Technology When buying Christmas Gifts, the quality of the product is going to be one of the factors that you really scrutinise before you commit to buying.Montane’s lightweight Tornado gloves are made from tough and stretchy softshell outer fabric, lined on the palm and inside of the fingers with strong and supple goat leather. The Stoney Advanced Glove is one serious piece of kit. Partly constructed out of goatskin, they are durable, warm and, thanks to a DRYtechnology membrane, don’t let a drop of water touch you. As they’re a bit on the bulky side, they’re not the easiest to perform simple tasks in, but they’re by no means the worse either, it just might take a little longer. That’s why we’ve pulled together this list of key factors for Montane Men’s Tornado Gloves below, to help you choose if it’s the right product for you and your budget.

That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from Montane so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at Montane branded products within the Christmas Gifts category. The cost of Montane Christmas Gifts There’s so much information available online when we’re shopping now, that it’s easy to find lots of detail about products like Montane Men’s Tornado Gloves. This is of course really helpful, but there’s almost too much information available, so it’s important to know exactly what you’re looking for. Winter weather is typically wet, windy and snowy and ensuring that your gloves have some form of waterproofing element, whether that be material or the membrane. The Men's specific fit of these gloves ensures extra width and a revised fit, while a pre-curved design makes gripping tools and ropes as unrestricted as possible. Lastly, touch screen compatible pads on the fingers and thumbs means you won't have to remove your gloves to use your phone or GPS in freezing environments. There are however some methods that you can use to determine a product’s quality without needing to physically have it. Conductive leather panels on thumb, index and middle fingertips for use with touch sensitive screens In traditional Scottish weather (so much rain) they stood up to whatever Mother Nature could throw at them and kept my hands warm throughout. Others felt more luxurious, but I wouldn’t say these are uncomfortable. They’re easy to pull on with wet hands and offer a great fit with a small Velcro fastening.
