The book covers the ideas of dreams, families, neglect, war, ptsd, alzheimers (depending on interpretation). Using photographic collage and illustration, this is the first book that Grahame has both written and illustrated and the results are amazing.

These are not minor finnicky points: books for children need to use better fonts to encourage the children to read, to be accessible to children and parents with eg dyslexia, and to be readable at bed-time when the lights are low. Much later, the boy, now a young man finds himself drawn once more to his fathers drawings and failed experiments. Spelling Seeds have been designed to complement Writing Roots by providing weekly, contextualised sequences of sessions for the teaching of spelling that include open-ended investigations and opportunities to practise and apply within meaningful and purposeful contexts, linked (where relevant) to other areas of the curriculum and a suggestion of how to extend the investigation into home learning. A lot of this book is set to interpretation which can bring great conversational pieces for the class.The story is rich with the concept of duty, with the literal sense of going to war, the need for the son to fulfill what his father had started, and the duty to further this dream during following generations. I bought this for my son in law whose parenting of my grandchildren I am very impressed with, I loved the story and the illustrations are memorable.
