I don't usually add children's books on Goodreads (except for the ones I read when I was a kid myself), but this one is just so adorable that I had to post it here. I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married. Lesson 4: ‘Catching a Princess’ - I took all the children to the hall and we played 'catch the princess' (stuck in the mud). And when Zog faces his toughest test yet, she may be just the person to help Zog win classroom glory! But Princess Pearl steps in and tells Gadabout that she doesn't want to be a princess, she wants to be a nurse and tend sick people.

In year four, he has to capture a princess - can the young girl help him with his trickiest challenge yet? The rhyming story is full of delight and near-perfect for reading aloud (there were only 2 lines where the rhythm seemed a touch off), with a great sing-song quality and plenty of fun words, humorous moments, and wee twists to keep little readers engaged and amused. Axel Scheffler's award-winning books include Room on the Broom, The Snail and the Whale, and The Gruffalo. In this much-loved picture book, a little mouse walks through the woods and encounters a fox, an owl and a snake. A family film based on the much-loved picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. She began writing songs for children's television but has focused on writing books when the words of one of her songs - A Squash and a Squeeze were made into a children's book in 1993. This prompted me to unearth some plays I’d written for a school reading group, and since then I’ve had 20 plays published. I don't think this is really deserved as she willingly comes with him but I guess that's better than the alternative of a genuine kidnap. The illustrations are just as amazing as in the Gruffalo books, and the rhyming prose of this story flows like water. Zog is definitely a new favourite in our home, it is a beautifully written story with lots of nice rhymes and repetition , but it is perhaps not as good as some of the other Julia Donaldson books like the Gruffalo.

She has over 180 published works with 120 of them intended for school use and include her Songbirds phonic reading scheme, which is part of the Oxfird Reading Tree.We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes.
